Tour: Author Interview: Georgia Cates ~ Going Under

Today, Author Georgia Cates is stopping through as part of her Tour to talk about her book Going Under.

Hi Georgia, Tell us a little bit about yourself and your writing?
Firstly, I would like to thank Salacious Reads for having me as a guest today. You have an awesome blog going on here. "shucks...thanks!"

My name is Georgia Cates and I am the author of Going Under and Blood of Anteros, Book 1 of The Vampire Agápe Series. I am a mother of two and wife of one. I lived in rural Mississippi and I love it. My life is simple and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What type of books do you enjoy?
Basically anything romance, but I prefer things along the paranormal and young adult line. I thought I didn’t care for sci-fi, but I recently read Obsidian and was surprised at how much I loved it. I guess you can teach an “old” dog new tricks.

Who's your favorite author? (Other than yourself of course. *Grin*)
Man, that’s like asking which one of my kids I like better. I’m a huge Indie author reader and supporter so I’m going with Shelly Crane on this one. She is fantabulous. So talented...So talented...

What made you want to write or be a writer?
Simply put- I love it and it makes me happy. I’d still write if I never made a dime doing it. I spent my entire teen and adult life knowing I wanted to write, but never felt like I could make a living at it so I became a nurse. After 14 years of nursing, I decided to finally pursue my dream of becoming an author.

What was it about this book that made you want to write it?
I love a romance that pulls on the heart strings of the reader. It was my desire to create a character that could find his way into the heart of the reader even if he did behave badly at times. My first book was first person male point of view and I wanted to try my hand at rotating point of views. I think I did a successful job of mastering both Claire and Jessie’s point of views.

Which character in the book would you call to “hang out” with?
NO DOUBT...Payton Archer. She is Claire’s snarky best friend. I love her character and attitude about...everything. She can say some of the most hilarious things and she would be a hoot. I’ve considered writing her own book because I love her so much.

What would your ideal career be, if you couldn't be an author?
I had the ideal career for 14 years. I helped deliver babies. What other profession can say they participated in bringing life into the world?

Is there anything special you would like to share with the readers about Going Under or yourself?
Following completion of Going Under, I have resumed work on Blood Jewel, the second Book in The Vampire Agápe Series and I anticipate it’s release in May 2012. New characters will be introduced and the sparks will fly.

Thank you very much for joining me today.

Thank you have having me!!!!

Be sure to catch my Review of Going Under next week.

Going Under
By Georgia Cates
Genre: YA
Book Blurb

Jessie Boone is a self proclaimed bad boy and doesn’t march to the beat of anyone’s drum, but his own. Growing up in less than desirable circumstances has made him no stranger to the hard knock life and his determination to leave it behind is fierce. When he finds himself transferred to East Franklin High School, he sees his opportunity to use his athletic ability to snag a college football scholarship, but Forbes Henderson, the player Jessie means to replace isn’t giving up his spot willingly. In fact, Forbes is willing to go to extreme measures to retain his place as first string quarterback. When Forbes’ malicious plan to injure his replacement fails, Jessie is furious and determined to show him he messed with the wrong person; not only is he going to take the position of first string quarterback, he’s going to take his girl, too.

Claire Deveraux is perfection at it’s best. She is beautiful, intelligent and unaware she just became Jessie Boone’s conquest as revenge against her boyfriend, Forbes Henderson. Like her flawless performance as the perfect daughter and student, Claire’s production of being the perfect girlfriend has everyone fooled, except Jessie Boone, and she fears this tattooed bad boy will see her secret desire to explore his crude threats and promises to rock her perfect world. If she decides to give in to one uninhibited moment with Jessie, will she learn too late that it was all an act of vengeance or will Jessie learn the taste of first love is sweeter than that of revenge?

About the Author:

I reside in rural Mississippi with my wonderful husband, Jeff, and our two beautiful daughters.

I spent thirteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before I decided to pursue my dream of becoming an author.

Blood of Anteros, Book One in The Vampire Agápe Series, was my first novel and it was released in September 2011.

I decided to step away from the paranormal genre to try my hand at a young adult romance and I loved it. It was so much fun, I plan to do it again in the near future.
