(Silent Screams, formally titled, "Black Rayne Silent Screams", has been "revamped" with a new look and added scenes.)

R&B sensation, Sharayna “Rayne” Piers, lives her life dedicated to her music. On stage and in the studio, she pours her heart and soul into the lyrics of her songs, hoping to deliver a piece of herself to the listeners. But ever since her twentieth birthday, her seemingly normal life has taken a turn to the dark side.

Piercing screams and horrendous acts of murder seizes her mind, haunting her night and day. Women similar to her in age are vanishing all over the world without a trace. It leaves Rayne wondering if the rash of disappearances is connected to her visions.

Soon, she will discover the world she was raised in is just a cover for what really hides in the shadows, and that her life as a human is a deception to mankind, a guise to conceal her true nature. Will she shun the darkness that has befallen her or step up to the throne and become what she was created to be?

Sexxy's Thoughts

I really didn't know what to expect when I powered up my NOOK and started reading this book. But, let me tell you it’s a story that will leave you very very excited and wanting to hurry up and grab the 2nd book…because that's exactly what I did.

Black Rayne: Silent Screams was over 700 pages long. I haven’t read a book that long and stayed interested since reading one of JR Wards BDB books. Well I can say that Yvonne Nicolas has totally blown me away just like JR did…I’m totally hooked on her characters and this wonderfully addictive story line.

Sharayne Piers (Rayne) has no idea her life is about to be turned upside down…literally. She doesn't know about her genetic make~up...well not until it’s too late. You see, she’s half vampire demon & half battle angel and now at the age of 20...she’s in heat and now every damn supernatural beast is after her and she is kinda after them too. But she also has to choose her consort, her would be King and THAT's just started a whole nuther mess the girl can’t possibly deal with. But let’s not leave out the fact that a war is brewing and Rayne is right smack in the middle of it because she is the balance between good and evil that the world will need so hell won't take over.

I loved the complexity of this story and I enjoyed how Ms. Nicolas broke down the book so that you could understand everyone’s part…or would be part in Rayne’s life. Let me just say right off the back that Rayne’s character is uh…hood…a lil ghetto if you will. Her speaking in the book will have you cracking up and I have to say I loved it…it’s so different and also refreshing to see a author do something that bold and it’s enjoyable. I loved the toughness of her character as well. She was scared of the changes going on within her, but she also didn't back down when it came to fighting. Rayne was a kick ass heroine!

Her chosen consort Demetri is to die for I tell you…sexy mofo right here ladies. Demetri is an vampire demon and you will learn his story and how he fits into Rayne’s life when you read this book. He is also a balance between good and evil. So where Rayne was ghetto, Demetri was straight royalty…regal. He and Rayne together made for an exciting read., it was to much fun reading them together. As her lover and protector, Demetri must also fight his demon and resist Rayne’s blood. Because although she is ready to give it to him, he knows she doesn't exactly understand the power she holds…just yet. This hero is no slouch...he is a total bad ass...he kicked butt all throughout this book. Rayne is very lucky to have Demetri as her protector.

I rated this book 4 stars on Goodreads, but I’m changing it to a 5 here at my blog. This was a totally engrossing story. Strong and complex characters and the world building is just as complex as it’s characters. The cast of characters in this story is wide and rich and again Kudos to Yvonne Nicholas for putting a lil hood in some of her characters and actually using hood terms and all. This did not take away from the story, it only made it more interesting and made for one hell of a read.

I've already purchased the 2nd book in the this series because I just have to know where this story is going to go. What Rayne will decide? Will she turn out good or evil? And what will happen with herself and Demetri? So many questions..totally addictive I say. Oh and be warned, there is sex…a whole lot of kinky, toe curling, dirty sex in these pages...I loved it, lol!

Highly recommended read. I loved this story from beginning to end. It's always exciting to start the first book in a series and get so drawn into the story that you have to go buy the other books to finish it. Thank you Yvonne!

Yvonne was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and have been an avid reader since the age of fourteen. As a kid, she'd sneak into her mother's room to read her erotic novels, and fell in love with the genre. Years later, she decided to try her hand at the craft, and what a gift she has. She's excited and compelled to share her gift with reader like herself.
