Chapter One

The old farmhouse had seen better days. Not only could it use a coat of paint, but it also needed a dose of love. Dry, brown grass surrounded the home, and the only flowers topped four-foot high weeds.

I glanced next to me at Zach—a cop with the Memphis P.D.—and crinkled my nose. “Someone actually lives here?”
His blue eyes met mine and he ran a hand through his blond, stylish hair and shrugged. “Max said the victim’s sister still resides in the home where the death happened.”

As he lowered his arm, he cringed, and I winced at the memory. Heck, only weeks ago he’d been stabbed and shot in the shoulder.

The man who caused Zach’s injury got it worse—by my very hand, no less—but I was glad Hannah Reid’s murderer hadn’t returned to haunt me.

I might have suffered some serious remorse. That is, if I didn’t believe God wouldn’t punish me because I killed a murderer. Brody would’ve done the same to me if I hadn’t gotten to him first. I tried my best to stick with that theory. It saved me from the lingering guilt I might—and would never admit to—have for taking a life.

Now for the giveaway. Stacey has offered to giveaway a book from her BACKLIST, readers choice. Just fill out the rafflecopter below...that's it.

Tour: Review - Dark Side of Purgatory by L.J. Hadaway

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

Published: February 6, 2012
Format: eBook (Review)
Available: Amazon, Barnes and Noble

Book Blurb (Goodreads):

Everyone knows Jaxon Slater. He's the life-of-the-party guy. He's the fun guy we want to invite to our outdoor barbeques but not marry our daughters. He is our nephew, the next-door neighbor who drinks too much, a friend of a friend that overdosed on heroin. He's the class clown in high school that was always in trouble from drinking and driving.

Jaxon Slater has 'pushed the envelope' and tried to scam his way through most of his life. He's charismatic and good-looking. Many things come easy to Jaxon. Sobriety isn't one of them. He's tried staying clean numerous times but always falls into a relapse, using one more time. His long time sponsor had warned him plenty. His last use of heroin landed him dead--in Purgatory.

Jaxon believes he is having a terrible nightmare until he finds an old friend and recalls how he died. Reality sets in and Jaxon begins to learn the rules of the strange land. He runs into a mean bunch of guys and an unlikely guide. To have a chance at saving himself, he must complete a quest: find a certain young woman and steer her away from the highway of destruction that killed him.

Old temptations linger, and dark forces shadow his path. Can Jaxon survive the abyss of his deepest fears to find redemption?

My Review:

After a hard life of drugs and partying, Jaxon Slater is dead and in Purgatory. And he doesn't even know it.

He is now giving the chance to redeem himself by saving the life of an young girl Dale. He has to stop her from making the same bad choices he did and also ending up in the same predicting circumstances as himself.

This is a very raw and emotional story. Ms. Hadaway draws you into this story and you just want everything and everyone to prevail. I love stories like this and I so appreciate it when a author does that. This is a very intense book and when the author says the story is one of addiction, recovery and hope. You cant help but believe that as you read.

Highly recommended.

My Rating:
4 Kisses (Still Hast...I really enjoyed it)

This week's question: Who is your favorite flawed hero and/or heroine and why do you still love them despite their faults?

Yeah...hard question this week Ladies, but who wants a perfect man anyways...lol! I'll have to say Lothaire from Kresely Cole's IAD series. The man was and is still seriously messed up...even after he found his bride. He just wants what he believes is his and he does just about anything to get it. But that is what I like so much about him. I know crazy...right? IDK, maybe it's those red eyes oh so blond but damn near white hair :)

Anime Review: Witchblade

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

So when I first started this blog, I stated that I would also review some of the Anime series that I'm highly addicted to. I watch a lot of it via Netflix. My first review will be on Witchblade....

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Genre: Action, Drama, Sci-Fi
Rating: TV-MA
Number of Episodes: 24
Studio GONZO, Funimation
Based on the Comic Book by Top Cow

Sought by the greed of Men since the dawn of Humankind, but only bestowed upon the woman whose fate it forever scars – The Witchblade. Is it the Righteous Sword of God, of the Hand of the Devil Himself? Now a new bearer has been chosen and she must discover the answers for herself. As she stands on the brink of destiny, she is forced to seek the balance between ecstasy and ruin…

Masane Amaha is a woman on the fringe of society, bouncing rootless from town to town with no memory of the past and no clue as to what the future holds. But upon her arrival back in Tokyo, chance and circumstance conspire to unleash the fury of the Witchblade. The ancient weapon stirs. Conscripted into the service of the Doji Group and hunted down by the emissaries of the NSWF, Masane will find herself an unwilling ground zero for the swelling chaos fast approaching.

To kill, to live, to love, to die… The destiny of the Witchblade continues.

My Review:

I'm huge fan of Anime and I thought this was a good series from studio Gonzo.

The Witchblade is only bestowed on women and what is it? From watching the series, this blade, which is in the form of a sort of wrist band, is a powerful weapon that all want. But the Witchblade itself seeks it own host and in the end devours their soul along with their body.

Masane Amaha who has no memory of her past finds herself in the middle of an on-going conflict between the Doji Group (a weapons manufacturer) who created the Witchblade and the NWSF (the child welfare agency) who has created the clone blade.

After the great quake hits Japan, Masane finds herself with this strange bracelet and is hired by the Doji Group to take out these killer type weapons they have made. She only takes the job because she has a daughter to support and she also wants to find out why the Witchblade has chosen her.

Like I said, you have two major players after the witchblade. Both seek the power that the blade holds. One for good and of course, the other for evil. And all caught on the middle is Masane, her daughter and it seems these other women who are actually created to where the clone blade.

There is seriously a lot going on in the 24 episodes of this series and everyone seems to have an issue
and they all are affected by the Witchblade. Masane in the end has to make a decision that will alter not just her life, but everyone that she has come to love and hold dear.

There was a lot of kick ass action, my only complaint was that Masane too way too long to learn how to use the Witchblade and it worked my nerves a little.

All and all, I rate it 4 Kisses. As I said, there is kick ass action and hell, it's a woman doing all the ass kicking.

Guest Post/Giveaway - The Protector by Vanna Smythe

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

Today, Vanna Smythe is going to talk about her book The Protector, Book One in The Anniversary of The Veil Series.

Will Love Restore the Balance?

Protector is based on two things: twin souls and the energy of love. The belief in twin souls, that is a soul mate in the form of your one true love, existing somewhere in the world and pulling you towards them relentlessly and ceaselessly is the underlying theme of Protector, and the entire Anniversary of the Veil series. Only, in this world that I created the energy released when two twin souls find each other is used for purposes that are not altogether enjoyable for the pair.

In my world, for centuries Joinings of such strong love, and the energy they release, have been used to build bridges and tall buildings, stem the flow of rivers, even change the duration and force of seasons. One thousand years ago, energy from one such pair was used to separate the world in half by a barrier only a select few can cross. On one side of this barrier, or Veil as it is called, they have continued with the forced Joinings, while on the other side the practice was eradicated. This was achieved mainly through the means of keeping the people ignorant, and under the complete control of the Priesthood. The priests rule the realm from the shadows. Among other things, they also decide who can marry whom, so as to prevent any natural Joinings of love from occurring.

Protector takes place at a time when the fate of this barrier must be judged. The decision of whether the Veil should continue to stand, or if it is time to let the world be whole again must now be made.

Princess Issiyanna is one of a pair, called to her other half, her twin soul. She is ignorant of her true purpose, steered to go along and find her love, not knowing that a Joining waits at the end of her journey. Unbeknown to her, she is loved from a distance by Protector Kiyarran, a soldier assigned as her bodyguard and the one whose role, whose decision, could decide the fate of all.

How long can a world where something as natural as the energy of love is twisted and used for artificial purposes exist? Will love prevail and restore the natural balance of things? What price must be paid? Answers to all these questions, and more wait at the end of the Anniversary of the Veil series.

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

Book Blurb:

Kiyarran always wanted to be a Protector of the Realm. Untold magic and forbidden love for Princess Issiyanna awaken inside him once his wish comes true. Now the Priesthood that rules the realm from the shadows see Kiyarran’s extraordinary skill as a threat.

Issiyanna is needed for a reaction on the other side of the Veil—a man-forged barrier separating the world in half. A Beacon and Answer gave up their lives to Don the Veil 1,000 years ago. Issiyanna is a Beacon needed to renew the Veil.

Issiyanna is abducted by a group of Keepers from across the Veil, and Kiyarran follows to save her.

Will he choose to bring her back, or run from all he knows to follow her across the Veil? Will Kiyarran fulfill his duty as a Protector, or allow his love for Issiyanna to guide his future path?

Magic, loyalty, childhood friendship, greed, and love all clash as Kiyarran is forced to make his decision.

About the Author:

Vanna Smythe is on a quest to become a (bestselling) fantasy author. Right now, it promises to be a dangerous quest, full of questionable, powerful magnates, laced with pitfalls of obligation, and dreams. So it is good that she does not mean to quest thus alone. To keep her company along the way, she has enlisted the help of an incredible cast of characters. For the moment, they are a confident boy who must learn many things anew, a girl who would like nothing more than to live in endless summer, four who wish things were different, and one who will do all to keep things the same.

As she travels with them, they are slowly reveling their world, and who they are, to her, challenging her to look beyond what is easy to see. These characters may be from a different time, a time long ago, a time that never was, but they could all be here today, forming a part of your inner circle of friends.

Trying to understand them better, her blog will feature an array of posts on the way of life in the Middle Ages. Vanna has lived in European cities, which have sprung from former medieval towns, for most of her life. She has visited many more such cities. Maybe this is why she feels such kinship with her cast of characters. She hopes you will grow to love them also.

Vanna also needs your help, because a story without a reader is like mist before the sun.

Review: Wicked As They Come By Delilah S. Dawson

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

Published: March 27, 2012
Format: Paperback
Series: Blud #1
Available: Barnes & Noble and Amazon (eBook & Paperback)

Book Blurb (Goodreads):

Have you ever heard of a Bludman? They’re rather like you and me—only more fabulous, immortal, and mostly indestructible. (They’re also very good kissers.)

Delilah S. Dawson’s darkly tempting debut drops her unsuspecting heroine into a strange faraway land for a romantic adventure that’s part paranormal, part steampunk . . . and completely irresistible.

When Tish Everett forces open the ruby locket she finds at an estate sale, she has no idea that a deliciously rakish Bludman has cast a spell just for her. She wakes up in a surreal world, where Criminy Stain, the dashing proprietor of a magical traveling circus, curiously awaits. At Criminy’s electric touch, Tish glimpses a tantalizing future, but she also foresees her ultimate doom. Before she can decide whether to risk her fate with the charming daredevil, the locket disappears, and with it, her only chance to return home. Tish and Criminy battle roaring sea monsters and thundering bludmares, vengeful ghosts and crooked Coppers in a treacherous race to recover the necklace from the evil Blud-hating Magistrate. But if they succeed, will Tish forsake her fanged suitor and return to her normal life, or will she take a chance on an unpredictable but dangerous destiny with the Bludman she’s coming to love?

My Review:

Ok...what a read. My first paranormal steampunk read and I wasnt disappointed at all.

Tish, a nurse comes across a locket at an estate sale of a patient she use to care for. But this is no ordinary locket, this locket was made to find her...magically that is. Later that night as Tish sleeps, she THINKS she's dreaming about a different world and this strange man that seems to be a part of it, but she's not...

Story and character development was on point. I thought everything was explained without over doing it or missing anything. This is a story of love and alternate reality. Hell, if you cant find it in your world, look for it in another and that is what Criminy Stain did. All of the in betweens was just an added bonus supplied by the author.

You can't but help to like the characters in this book. Ms Dawson draws you into a world that is a bit overwhelming, BUT easy to love as you read on.

This world of Sang is built on Blud and it is not easy place to live if you are a blud person or just piss ass poor. Tish finds this out as she fights to find a way home and also TRY to stop her heart for falling for a circus ring leader who has waited for her for a very long time.

Scariest things in this book, the ANIMALS! Blud Bunnies, Blud Rats and Blud Mares?!!! Hells Bells!

Funniest thing in this book, the dialogue between Criminy and Tish...too much and I loved it.

Several songs came to mind while I was reading this book and they are

Scars - Basement Jaxx
Whats a Girl Gotta Do - Basement Jaxx (erm from Criminy's POV, just replace the girl w/boy...yada, uada)
We found Love - Rhianna

Eh? What do you think Poppets?

5 Kisses - Tongue/French Kiss (Hot Damn! It's a Keeper - I Highly Enjoyed It)

Review: Fire Baptized by Kenya Wright

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

Published: January 28, 2012
Format: eBook (Review)
Series: Habitat #1
Available: Barnes & Noble & Amazon (Paperback)

Book Blurb: (Goodreads):

Since the 1970s humans have forced supernaturals to live in caged cities. Silver brands embedded in their foreheads identify them by species: a full moon for Vampires, a crescent moon for Shifters, a pair of wings for Fairies, and the list goes on, for each supernatural species has been tagged and categorized by humans.

Lanore Vesta is marked with a silver X, the brand of Mixbreeds, second-class citizens shunned by society. She stays to herself, revealing her ability to create fire only during emergencies. All she wants to do is graduate college and stop having to steal to survive. But when she stumbles upon a murder in progress, she catches the attention of a supernatural killer. Now all she wants is to stop finding dead bodies in her apartment.

Enlisting help from her Were-cheetah ex-boyfriend MeShack and a new mysterious friend named Zulu, she is steered through the habitat’s raunchy nightlife. But their presence sometimes proves to be more burden than help, as they fight for her attention.

While the corpses pile up, and the scent of blood fills the air, Lanore is left wondering: will she find the psycho or die trying?

My Review:

A very different read for me and I enjoyed it very much. The story and character development was very strong. I also loved the world that the author created. Humans have forced the supernaturals to live behind a magical wall of sorts (think of Escape From New York). And within this wall, the supernaturals are marked with a brand on their forehead to identify what they are and let me tell you, there is a little bit of everything behind this wall.

Lenore Vesta is a mixie. Mix breeds are looked down upon in this world and Lenore just wants to get through college and basically survive. Its just a normal day until she witnesses a murder and now Lenore is thrown into the middle of something that is way more than she she thinks she can handle.

I really did enjoy this book. The characters were well written and so was the story. Ms Wright kept you glued to the story from beginning to end. Every element of the story was well blended in and I appreciated that. I liked everyone in the story pretty much...well except for Meshack (yup, that is his name) who worked my nerves a little bit; but the more I read, I started to understand his relationship with Lenore and visa versa.

And I just simply love the relationship building between Lenore and Zulu too. It was a slow build and I thought that was perfect because you got to see them work on getting to know each other and their feelings for one another. Even though Zulu knew his, he was just waiting for Lenore to figure out hers.

Now this book is not for the faint of heart, it is very graphic in everything..lol AND that is my kind of reading. Add this one to you TBR pile and look out for more from this author.
I think Ms Wright has a wonderfully awesome new series here, cam't wait for the next book.

Rating: 4 Kisses (Still Hawt! I enjoyed it)

Tour/Giveaway: Dark Side Of Purgatory ~ Linda Hadaway

Today L.J. Hadaway is taking over to talk about her book Dark Side of Purgatory.

Linda Hadaway

Dark Side Of Purgatory

Thank you so much for the invitation to your blog site.

When someone asks me to tell them about Dark Side Of Purgatory, I say it’s a novel about addiction, recovery, and hope, with a paranormal twist.

I’ve worked in the chemical addiction field for many years. After having published two other books, I decided I wanted to write a novel about addiction. Something that any reader could pick up and find entertaining-as novels go- and yet, gain some insight into how the addictive person thinks. What makes a person keep drinking- or using- after they have lost their job, their family, their home? How does someone get so lost in the insanity of addiction- they can’t find their way out? If you’ve ever known- or loved- someone who has been an alcoholic or addict, you’ll probably relate to Jaxon’s family.  You might even relate to Jaxon.

By L.J. Hadaway

Jaxon Slater was the life-of-the-party- guy until one day he woke up in Purgatory. He runs into a mean  bunch of ...guys...an unlikely guide and... possible redemption. His quest is finding a certain young  woman and steering her away from the path of Destruction that killed him. He will need to face the wreckage of his past. Old temptations linger. Dark forces shadow his path.

Her answer: a woman, but not just any woman. A witch.

She retreats from the world to Trinity Forest where she is giving the opportunity of a lifetime, or perhaps a test of principles. It’s there she discovers the man she heals is the Eternal that wiped out her people. Although she is bound as a healer, she could be creative in her revenge. Aisleen knows who and what Lucien his…but does not speak of it. There can be no future with Lucien for she can only be with a mortal man. Lucien must act quickly for the survival of his clan is at stake. However, Aisleen’s ethereal beauty and emerald eyes keep pushing those thoughts far from his mind. Determined to find out what secret she hides, he prolongs his time with her. When his people need him most what will he choose…duty, desire, or will he make his own fate?

You can choose love but you can’t choose destiny

My Review

I loved the story and it definitely had that fairy tale read to it. Lucien is a powerful clan leader of the Eternals and we come in on him finding that his friend is trying to kill him. Lucien after being discovered barely escapes. Injured, he seeks help and refuge from a lone woman who is wondering the forest. During his stay as he heals, he finds out that this is no ordinary woman, but a witch that he ordered destroyed.
Aisleen lives in the forest alone after her husband leave her for another woman and her clan bans her. Because the mother goddess wills it and it’s a part of who she it, she takes in a wounded warrior she come across while looking for herbs.

Loved the story. Lucien and Aisleen were good together. I thought the story was well put together and the character development was good as well. My only complaints were that, there was some incompleteness to the story as well. This is a short story, but there was a lot going on and I was a little confused when things were fully explained. I also the ending was kind of abrupt. I mean it was a good ending; both Lucien and Aisleen got the HEA. But, we never find out if Lucien continued his search for his friend to stop him from taking over the clan and to warn his people of the ultimate betrayal that is going on. And that left me kinda of lost.

Tour: Author Interview: Catherine Bybee ~ Highland Shifter

I got a chance to talk to A wickedly sexy highlander...Meet Simon from Catherine Bybee's Highland Shifter.

Hi Simon and Welcome.
Thank you for having me.
Please tell us about yourself?
I'm what you might call adaptable. You see, when I a teenager my Aunt disappeared. Simply vanished without a trace. A year later my mother was told that in order to see my Aunt again we would have to travel in time. I know what you're thinking... "time travel isn't possible" but it is. Believe that or not, it makes no difference to me. I did travel back to the sixteenth century and we were reunited with my Aunt.
I adapted. My mother fell in love and married.  We decided to live our lives in the past. Our family is huge and growing every year. The other men and I at MacCoinnich Keep fight to protect all our people. Family means everything to me.
Please tell us about your relationship with Helen
We've not had an easy time of it, yet I would change nothing. Helen has brought light to my life that was already filled with sunshine. I realize now how much I desired a wife of my own...maybe a family of my own.
How did you guys meet?
You'll have to read our story to get all the details of course, but I can tell you this. I turned around one day and she was simply there. I had barely donned my kilt and nothing more, but this phased her little. The lass held her ground and spit out questions. I knew she was from the future. I recognized her clothing and knew a lass of our time wouldn't wear men'sclothes. A series of unfortunate events followed and our story unfolded for us. I can breath easy now that the story is told.
So you are a highlander and a shifter, interesting...how does that work exactly?
I'm a Druid. Druids have gifts and mine is the ability to shift forms. I can shift into any animal, big or small. As for the Highlander explanation...well, lass, warriors who live in the highlands of Scotland are known as Highlanders. I suppose even in your modern times they can be called such, however, readers of your blog will have a clear picture of what to expect when reading our story. And before you ask, yes I wear a kilt. They are comfortable...and convenient. Helen has this glow in her eye when she watches me wearing it.
Will we be reading more about yourself and Helen?
Helen and I will be seen throughout Ms Bybee's stories of the MacCoinnichs. Anyone who follows her books understands how difficult it is to let go of us. Our family is very interconnected, regardless of what time we might live in. I'm told that Amber is about to embark on her own journey...and I believe we've not seen the last of Cian.
Thanks for stopping through Simon, much appreciated.

Book Blurb

Helen Adams has a knack for finding lost objects, but the Simon McAllister she finds isn’t what she expected. The missing California teen is now a grown man—a kilted, sword wielding, Highland warrior.

A mysterious Druid book and Helen’s sixth sense send her to Scotland in search of a missing boy. After being attacked by strange men dressed in medieval garb, a handsome, desirable hero answering to the boy’s name rescues her. No one is more surprised than she to find herself in sixteenth century Scotland. Unable to deny the reality of time travel, Helen discovers smoldering passion with a man destined to leave her.

Simon has lived his Druid life in two very different worlds, two vastly different times, and when Helen practically lands in his lap, he knows his life is about to change forever. There are enemies in California lying in wait for her, and an army in Scotland closing in on his family. Simon is the only person who can protect her. But when she learns his most guarded secret, will she still want him? Can Helen love a Highland Shifter?

New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Catherine Bybee has been addicted to romance since her teens. After spending a decade of her life working as an RN in urban emergency rooms, Catherine is now dedicated to writing happily-ever-afters for the world to love. Catherine is married and raising two sons in Southern California.
She loves hearing from her readers so feel free to visit her at:

Simon stepped closer and felt the heat of her skin. She smelled of the strawberry shampoo she used in her hair. Helen’s hands slid from her hips and fell to the side.
“’Tis time we clear up a few things in your lovely head about me.”
He stepped closer, and Helen, the wise girl, took a step back until her bottom met the edge of the desk. She reached behind her to steady herself and keep from falling.
Like a predatory cat cornering his prey, Simon towered over Helen, watching her body twitch as her eyes travelled over his.
“Really?” Her voice wavered. After clearing her throat, she asked. “Like what?”
Simon licked his lips and glanced at hers. “I’m not evil.”
“Uhm….” Her eyes never left his mouth while he spoke.
“And I’d never lure a child into my presence.”
Simon leaned into her, their thighs touched and Helen’s breathing started to quicken. He placed one hand on the table beside her, leaving her very little room to escape should she want to. From the hunger in her gaze, and the heat coming off her body, he didn’t believe she would.
“A woman, however, might tempt me to entice her attention.”

Tour: Author Interview: Georgia Cates ~ Going Under

Today, Author Georgia Cates is stopping through as part of her Tour to talk about her book Going Under.

Hi Georgia, Tell us a little bit about yourself and your writing?
Firstly, I would like to thank Salacious Reads for having me as a guest today. You have an awesome blog going on here. "shucks...thanks!"

My name is Georgia Cates and I am the author of Going Under and Blood of Anteros, Book 1 of The Vampire Agápe Series. I am a mother of two and wife of one. I lived in rural Mississippi and I love it. My life is simple and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What type of books do you enjoy?
Basically anything romance, but I prefer things along the paranormal and young adult line. I thought I didn’t care for sci-fi, but I recently read Obsidian and was surprised at how much I loved it. I guess you can teach an “old” dog new tricks.

Who's your favorite author? (Other than yourself of course. *Grin*)
Man, that’s like asking which one of my kids I like better. I’m a huge Indie author reader and supporter so I’m going with Shelly Crane on this one. She is fantabulous. So talented...So talented...

What made you want to write or be a writer?
Simply put- I love it and it makes me happy. I’d still write if I never made a dime doing it. I spent my entire teen and adult life knowing I wanted to write, but never felt like I could make a living at it so I became a nurse. After 14 years of nursing, I decided to finally pursue my dream of becoming an author.

What was it about this book that made you want to write it?
I love a romance that pulls on the heart strings of the reader. It was my desire to create a character that could find his way into the heart of the reader even if he did behave badly at times. My first book was first person male point of view and I wanted to try my hand at rotating point of views. I think I did a successful job of mastering both Claire and Jessie’s point of views.

Which character in the book would you call to “hang out” with?
NO DOUBT...Payton Archer. She is Claire’s snarky best friend. I love her character and attitude about...everything. She can say some of the most hilarious things and she would be a hoot. I’ve considered writing her own book because I love her so much.

What would your ideal career be, if you couldn't be an author?
I had the ideal career for 14 years. I helped deliver babies. What other profession can say they participated in bringing life into the world?

Is there anything special you would like to share with the readers about Going Under or yourself?
Following completion of Going Under, I have resumed work on Blood Jewel, the second Book in The Vampire Agápe Series and I anticipate it’s release in May 2012. New characters will be introduced and the sparks will fly.

Thank you very much for joining me today.

Thank you have having me!!!!

Be sure to catch my Review of Going Under next week.

Going Under
By Georgia Cates
Genre: YA
Book Blurb

Jessie Boone is a self proclaimed bad boy and doesn’t march to the beat of anyone’s drum, but his own. Growing up in less than desirable circumstances has made him no stranger to the hard knock life and his determination to leave it behind is fierce. When he finds himself transferred to East Franklin High School, he sees his opportunity to use his athletic ability to snag a college football scholarship, but Forbes Henderson, the player Jessie means to replace isn’t giving up his spot willingly. In fact, Forbes is willing to go to extreme measures to retain his place as first string quarterback. When Forbes’ malicious plan to injure his replacement fails, Jessie is furious and determined to show him he messed with the wrong person; not only is he going to take the position of first string quarterback, he’s going to take his girl, too.

Claire Deveraux is perfection at it’s best. She is beautiful, intelligent and unaware she just became Jessie Boone’s conquest as revenge against her boyfriend, Forbes Henderson. Like her flawless performance as the perfect daughter and student, Claire’s production of being the perfect girlfriend has everyone fooled, except Jessie Boone, and she fears this tattooed bad boy will see her secret desire to explore his crude threats and promises to rock her perfect world. If she decides to give in to one uninhibited moment with Jessie, will she learn too late that it was all an act of vengeance or will Jessie learn the taste of first love is sweeter than that of revenge?

About the Author:

I reside in rural Mississippi with my wonderful husband, Jeff, and our two beautiful daughters.

I spent thirteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before I decided to pursue my dream of becoming an author.

Blood of Anteros, Book One in The Vampire Agápe Series, was my first novel and it was released in September 2011.

I decided to step away from the paranormal genre to try my hand at a young adult romance and I loved it. It was so much fun, I plan to do it again in the near future.

Trinity Bound Blog Tour: Author Interview/Giveaway ~ Carrie Ann Ryan

Today, I have Carrie Ann Ryan here. She's stopping though as part of her Trinity Bound Tour to answer a few questions for us...take a gander.

Hi Carrie Ann and welcome to SalaciousReads

Hi! Thank you so much for having me!

So tell us about yourself and did you always want to be a writer?

I’m a chemist by day and a paranormal romance writer, wife, and kitten momma by night. I didn’t know I wanted to be a writer until recently, but I’m so happy I started to read romance!!

Please tell us about the Redwood Pack series and your latest book Trinity Bound

The Redwood Pack series is a seven book series – plus some novellas – that center on a Pack of werewolves and the Jamenson family. Each book is about a different sibling and how they find and keep their mates. And of course, there are demons and a rival Pack to get in the way. They are sexy, a bit dark, kind of funny, and werewolf-tastic (not my word, but a friend’s LOL)

Trinity Bound is about the middle son, Reed. He doesn’t have a position in the Pack, but he also doesn’t realize how much his family needs him. Along his journey against the Centrals (the rival Pack) he meets Hannah and Josh. A witch and a human who are his mates. In Trinity Bound, you’ll see how they come together and how having three different people in a relationship can be incredible – but difficult.

Who became your favorite character while writing this book?

This book? Josh. I didn’t really know who he’d be until I started writing. And now I just want to hug him. LOL

How long do you plan to carry the series out? Will there be a spin-off of the series?

After Trinity Bound, I have 4 more novels and at least one more novella. On May 1st, A Night Away comes out and will be a novella that centers on a couple you’ve already fell for, Mel and Kade. But Adam’s book is the next full length novel and will be out later this year.

I’m not planning a spin-off series, but you never know. I’m writing 3 other series as the moment so we’ll see LOL.

I see one of the characters is ex-military. Did you do any research while writing Trinity Bound?

My father, grandfather, great-grandfather…etc…are all military. For certain things I asked them, but this isn’t a military romance (I love to read those LOL), so I only needed their help for character personalities.

What’s your definition of a Alpha male? And a strong heroine?

Alpha male: Someone who defends what is his, but knows that his heroine can be herself. Someone who needs her as much as she needs him.
Strong Heroine: Someone who can stand on her own, but is okay to lean on others. Someone who needs him as much as he needs her.

I know you're writing about wolves now, but will you will be writing about other paranormal creatures?

Yes!! In my next series, Dante’s Circle, I have just about every paranormal creature out there LOL. In Dust of My Wings, book 1 in the series, I have angels, demons, dragons…and more. And that’s just one book.

I also have two more series with paranormal creatures, but I can’t talk about them just yet. Shhh…

Some of your favorite things to do when you are not writing?

Reading. Honestly, I’m an addict LOL. And I like to cook. And now that I’m not on Chemo anymore, I can start hiking again.

What do you want readers to take away with them after they've finished one of your books?
I hope they love my characters and want to see more of them. I love my characters and I want others to as well!

Thanks for having me!!

Book Blurb:

Hannah Lewis, a rare earth witch, is taken from the only life she’s ever known. Held at her will by a sadistic wolf, she almost gives up hope that she’d ever see her real life again. But as her fellow captive, a werewolf named Reed, tries to calm her fears, she begins to feel a spark of something she never thought she’d feel – love. But is Reed, alone, enough to get her out of this dark basement so she can move on with her life?
Reed Jamenson, the artist of a werewolf Pack of Alpha males, knows instinctually that Hannah is his mate. Thus, despite their imprisonment, he will do all to protect her and then worry about their hearts. But is he strong enough to find a way for both of them to escape? And why does he feel as though something else is missing?
Josh Kolb, an ex-military human, stumbles upon Reed and Hannah and finds he must trust this new world of supernatural beings to survive. But that desire will lead the three to a triangle of attraction that will test the boundaries they all possess and its consequences in defeating the enemy. Can they all trust one another to save themselves and life as they know it? Even at the cost of their own hearts?

Snowflakes stuck to Josh’s eyelashes and he bat them away. A strong gust blew past him, the cold chilling his bones. He surveyed his surroundings, taking a silent step through the undergrowth. Tall trees reached to the sky, blocking whatever sunlight filtered through the dreary storm clouds. Their limbs heavy with leaves and the extra weight of collecting snow drooped down, dropping snow bundles on his shoulder and in one unfortunate incident, his face. If only he could have Found these two in the nice spring or cool fall months. No, he had to search for them in the onset of winter and the beginning of what looked to be a deadly snow storm. Lucky guy.
When he left his bench on Main Street, he had quickly gone home to fetch some of his equipment. He dressed warmer, grabbed a pack with extra clothes for Reed and the witch, some food and water, and weapons. Lots of weapons. Knifes and blades of various shapes and sizes adorned his body. He had his SIG strapped to his side, with extra ammo in his belt. Sadly he didn’t have any silver, but lead would at least slow the beasts down if they came after him.
And they would. Because as he followed the trail in his mind to this remote bunker, his sense of unease swelled to a staggering sensation. Crap, he might not make it this time. He was but one man. One human at that. But looking down at the lair that held two people that he needed to find, he set aside those worries and the creeps it gave off. The two of them were more important – for some unknown reason. And if anyone truly knew him, they would know that it was freaking hard to give Josh the creeps. But he ignored those chills as well.
