Book Blurb

The gentle teacher of angelic young, and the keeper of her people’s histories, Jessamy is respected and admired by everyone who knows her. Yet, born unable to soar into flight, she has spent thousands of years trapped in the mountain stronghold of the Refuge, her heart encased in painful loneliness…until the arrival of Galen, warrior angel from a martial court.

Rough-edged and blunt, Galen is a weapons-master at home with violence, a stranger to the sweet words it takes to woo a woman—but he is also a man determined to claim Jessamy for his own, to dance with her through the skies denied her for so very long…even if their exhilarating passion proves as dangerous as the landscape of war and unrest that lie before them.

***Angels’ Dance previously appeared in the anthology, Angels’ Flight

Sexxy's Thoughts

Now, if you know me..then you know I'm really not a fan of Novella's. They tend to at times fall short of delivering the story.

Nalini Singh hit a home run with the special short. The story between Galen and Jessayme was right on point...nothing was missed, reading Angel's Dance was akin to reading a full length novel in some ways.

This is a prequel to Archangels Blood. Raphael is young and so is most of his seven. In this story, Galen has just arrived from Titus's court to the refuge to be the young archangels new weapons-master. Without giving too much away, Nalini dives right in and Jessayme catches Galen's attention from the start...he pursues her.

I loved his bluntness with Jessayme. If you read any of the Guild Hunter stories, then most know that Jessayme cannot fly because of her damaged wing. So while others were careful to walk on egg shells around her, Galen really just spoke his mind and Jessayme couldn't really help but fall for him. Because where he was blunt and a "Barbarian" as she playfully called him...he was also this sweet gentle man who loved her even when she wouldn't or couldn't accept it.

This was a very very good novella and you get a glimpse of everyone.. Raphael, Dmitri, Jason and more. I was always curious about Galen & Jessayme and this sweet story more that satisfied that curiosity. I'm so adding Galen to my list of book boyfriends..oh that man was just divine!~

Heat Level

There were only a couple of sex scenes in this novella, but in true Nalini Singh fashion, with each one...she had me wanting to go find a angel and do a very wicked "dance" with him.

Lata Days...MUAH!

  1. I haven't had the pleasure of reading any of her books. Sometimes I ask myself "WHAT HAVE I BEEN READING?" because there are a lot of great books and authors out there that I feel I'm the only one left who's clueless about it, Nalini Singh included.

  2. Hi Braine!

I feel the same way too. I randomly came across the first book in her Guild Hunter series & was just hooked...lady can write some sexy stories I tell you.
I'm glad I found her because she really is a bright jewel in the PNR world.

  3. The only thing I've read from her so far was a novella in the Magical Christmas Cat anthology and omg it was so damn good! Really impressive when an author can win you over with a novella :) I'll have to grab this one up when I finish the psy-changeling series. Can already tell I'm gonna love Galen :)

    Great review Sharonda!

  4. Her Guild Hunter series is just awesome..the lady definitely has a way with words. I'm gonna start read the first book in the psy-changeling series too!

You're going to love Galen...sexxy beast of a man...rawr!!!! lol!

    thank you Anna!

  5. I've read the first 2 books in this series, but they were a bit too slow for me. I even wrote reviews and just never posted them lol. A lot of phrases were repetitive, like the way Elena always thinks of how powerful Raphael is. Anyway, I'd still like to try the rest of the books, especially Dimitri's. But I might read this one just because I love novellas for series. They're also so fun to read for the side-characters.

  6. I loved Raphael's books & to tell you the truth Elena was my only issue. I didn't think she was a right fit for Raphael & I didn't care for her just grated on my nerves. She was just waayy to bitchy for my taste.

I never wrote reviews for them because that was before I started!~ Dimitri's book was good..I liked it enough..somethings were missing there. This novella was awesome though. I think Nalini was able to have you connect to both characters.

    thanks for stopping through Ning!
