The year is 3048, Earth is no longer habitable, and man has fled to the stars where they've discovered the secret of immortality-Meridian. Unfortunately, the radioactive mineral is exorbitantly expensive and only available to a select few. A new class comprised of the super rich and immortal soon evolves. The Collective, as they're called, rule the universe.Two-thousand-year-old Ricardo Sanchez, vampire and rogue pilot of the space cruiser, El Cazador, can't resist two things: gorgeous women and impossible jobs. When beautiful Skylar Rossaria approaches him to break a prisoner out of the Collective's maximum security prison on Trakis One, Rico jumps at the chance. Being hunted by the Collective has never been so dangerous-or so fun.

I liked this story…didn’t exactly want to stalk it. Mainly because it really was a confusing read throughout much of the book, trying to figure out exactly what Skylar really wanted with Rico and his crew. I have to admit it drove me a little crazy.

Skylar Rossaria is undercover to rescue her boyfriend who turns out to be her brother at the end of this story from a high security space prison and she hires Rico’s spaceship to assist her in this breakout. But she’s slowly finding herself attracted to Rico who is a vampire and it seems the only vampire in the future (really kinda weird but…). Skylar was a hot and cold to me, She was a good character to read, but I really couldn't get a feel for her.

Rico is just looking for a little fun and really doesn't care too much about helping free Skylar’s brother…he really just wants to get to know her “better”. Rico was cute and sexy…he pretty much figured Skylar out, but like I said, he just went along for the ride. But he didn't predict he would be falling in love again after so many years.

All & all, I did enjoy the read. It was exciting and Ms. Croft started off with action. The sex scenes were incredibly hot and well done. I liked the world building too, it was strong and also well written. But I felt there was little development to the characters and the stories plot took too long to get to, there were some areas I felt were rushed as well…but not so much so.

Like it said it made for a confusing read for me and that is the reason for my 3 heel rating. I would definitely give the next book a try, but I would like to see more character development and possibly the plot of the story not taking so long to get too.
