Heather Pierce is done being a wallflower, both personally and professionally. Desperate to live a different life for one night, she attends a speed dating event. Maybe here, anonymous unless she chooses otherwise, she can become someone new. When a man way out of her league sits across from her, Heather gathers her courage and takes charge of what she wants, secretly fearing he won’t desire the real person she’s desperate to hide.

Top acquisitions officer and international playboy Tony Carmine is about to close the biggest deal of his career. But then he meets Heather at a speed dating event…and discovers losing control may be exactly what he needs. Her blossoming sensuality occupies his every thought, consuming him with the need to possess the most intriguing lover he’s ever encountered—until he walks into the boardroom and sees Heather on the other side of the negotiating table.

Vanilla on Top is a quirky and funny story and I loved the interaction between Tony and Heather. This is a quick and enjoyable read and the light BDSM theme to this tale only made it a better.

Tony is a male character to love….he wasn't arrogant and his ego didn't make it so that only his head could fit in a room, I liked that about him a lot. I liked that he always wanted to please Heather…made her needs first. Don’t’ get me wrong, he was a confident man in his own, but I liked that Ms. Ellison created this very unselfish guy.

Sometimes I just get a little bored reading these millionaire/billionaire characters and that’s really all that seems to be to them. This selfish arrogance that could make you want to chuck your book or eReader into space.

I also enjoyed Heather’s character. I thought it was a cool little twist that she took on the almost kinda of Dominatrix role. It really helped her come into a confidence that she normally did not show. But her constant insecurities about herself worked my nerves….I mean I don’t know what else Tony could have done to prove that he cared about her.

This is my first read by C.J. Ellison and it surely will not be my last. I have two other books on my NOOK of hers and I’m dying to read them. Her writing is excellent; and the world & character building is just as good.

**The BDSM in this story is lite..nothing hardcore.
