Nexi Jones—part witch, part guardian, and wannabe kick-ass warrior—can’t throw a punch or conjure the simplest magic. But that doesn’t stop her from hunting the werewolves who slaughtered her human family. She’ll have her revenge, but only if Kyden, the elite guardian, would get the hell out of her way.
Kyden can’t decide if Nexi wants to get herself killed or if she just has no clue what she’s doing. But her father made it clear: keep Nexi safe…or else. Of course, the more Nexi runs toward revenge, the more she needs Kyden’s aid, and as she grows into her power and confidence, so does his desire to protect her. The only problem? She’d rather he dropped dead.
But when a vampire paints a bull’s-eye on Nexi’s back, she’s hard-pressed to deny Kyden and the help he’s offering. Even if it means getting her revenge will be a little bit harder. At least it will still be as sweet.
I enjoyed the world that Stacey Kennedy has created in Werewolves be Damned, there are enough "Others" to keep you occupied and their world along with ours is filled with magic, kick ass chick and sexxy men.
I however, did have a very difficult time connecting with Nexi…the heroine. I liked her enough as she was tough and didn't take no mess, but her going off all cock strong without any idea how to use her new powers baffled me and the attitude?…I understand she suffered a great loss with the death of her parents, but she could have bottled that 'tude up a little more quickly. She did loosen up towards the middle of the book, but the connection to her was already lost for me.
Kyden is another hero is Stacey’s world that kept this reader’s fingertips burning from the constant swiping of her NOOK. He was so patient and understanding when it came to Nexi, plus he walks around in a leather kilt and his chest bared….THAT alone got my blood pumping. But again, it was his understanding of Nexi’s need for revenge and her getting use to this new world…his willingness to help and protect her was great and fun to read.
The world building here is very well executed. Its very rare that we read where vamps, werewolves and witches blend together so well and I think Stacey pulled this off excellently. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
