Olivia Ann Greyson is a Charmer, a Dhampir with the power to lure the supernatural world’s most dangerous of creatures – and she’s in an impossible situation. She must leave behind Caleb Wolfe, the strong, protective vampire she has fallen madly in love with, in order to learn how to protect herself from the vampires, shifters and demons that will be drawn to her for the rest of her life.

Human Guardian, Alec Lambert, has been assigned to see to Olivia’s training by the organization he belongs to, which is known simply as The Brethren. He takes Olivia to the group’s stronghold in the mountainous regions of Alberta, Canada, where she discovers the answers to her family’s painful past and the extent to which those hunting her will go to capture her. But she also uncovers many secrets and even more questions about this mysterious group she has trusted to protect her – secrets that will have her fighting to get back to the man she left behind.

. . . but will it be too late?

Okay…book 2 is a strong 3.5 sliding it’s way into a 4 heel review. Again, there was the slowness in this one as it was in the first book, The Charmed. There was the drawing out of some parts of the story that truly dragged for me.

I’m still in love with these characters Caleb and Olivia. Although...again Olivia worked my nerves with her bratty battiness. Her expectations of Caleb was all good for me, but she (and she had her reasons I guess) didn't want to seem to mirror them and that had me grinding my teethe some. I will say that she grew into her own in this story, but still she was a pain in the butt.

Caleb…what can I say? He’s almost too perfect of an vampire, he loves fiercely and would go down in flames to protect his family.

I love the addition of the story line between Jax, Gemma and Alec (this is what turned my 3.5 to a 4). I thought it was a clever little twist on Ms. Wenrick’s part, highly unexpected…but very titillating indeed. I also enjoyed the added characters from The Brethren...the good ones that is. Maya, Phin, Kane and Lucas were a delicious add to this tale and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more on them.

Book 2 finds Olivia at the Brethren's compound learning to “protect” herself from those sups that are drawn to her because of her charmer gift, She also misses Caleb something fierce. As she trains, she learns of her purpose and her parents….Olivia soon finds out that there is evil not just among vampires, but those who are supposedly sworn to protect her. I honestly wasn't expecting the story to take the turn it did, but it was a good turning of events.

Again, the world building here is just really awesome and so is the character arcs. The heat levels in book 2 certainly picked up *waggles eyebrow*…very hot and sexxy indeed. I’m looking forward to moving on to book 3, the final book in this trilogy. I’m hoping the Olivia & Caleb can finally find the happiness they are desperately searching for...together.
