His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.
At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard, the ghosts of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.
On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?
I liked the dynamics of Escaping Reality. Amy’s and Liam’s relationship is very intense and hot…it also started very quickly. I mean like zero to sixty quickly, but it worked for this story. I liked that Lara/Amy was a little tough even with her circumstances. I liked that she got angry and wanted to take more control over what was going on with her life.
I also liked the fact that Lara/Amy finally started looking into what happened to her family and just didn't keep on running like a chicken with her head cut off and that she started questioning her “handler”. I was a little confused about the whole Megan/Jared factor and also Megan’s so called boss…but this is part of the mystery that is Lara/Amy’s life I suppose. The ending I have to say I wasn't too impressed with as it left me more confused. Did she really think Liam has something to do with her past? And hell, what does Liam really know about her? why leave like that? Lot's a questions...
Escaping Reality is a good solid story with great suspense, mystery and a romance that has a whole lot of heat. I enjoy Lisa Renee’s writing….I think she has a way of spicing of her mysteries as she always adds a little something extra to them. But in the end, this story-line held little excitement for me as there was very little connection to it or its characters and I just wanted it to be over.
Definitely a what the hell just happened kind of story...
