 photo SexxysSundayWrapup.png
I'm not part of any Sunday memes, but of course my Wrap-up is inspired by many.
So this is my way of showing the salaciously sexxy happenings that went on this past month at Salacious Reads...

Hi!

Thought I try something new for my wrap~up. I'm going to start doing this post once a month and also, it will done via video. I won't be in this first video, but you will here my sexxy voice...today was not the day to be on TV...lols. So enjoy and let me know what you think? Also, this one is kinda long 17 mins. The next one won't be so long...promise :)

And sorry for the lines during the NOOK showing....

Won from Vanessa over at The Jeep Diva

I also did a little spring cleaning here at SR. I cleaned up my sidebar and my bottom bars as well...took some items off that no longer need to be there & and moved some items to my "about me" page; mainly my the series, genres and character buttons I love. I thought they would be best there...

Finally, this is the last Sunday that The Walking Dead will show...yes, you zombie & Daryl lovers...this is the season finale'...the last episode. Be sure to catch Ana & I's post sometime this week on it, but also make sure you catch our posts on the entire series by just simply searching for Talking Zombies...You'll find the link to our last conversation on the top of my sidebar.

Blog Tour: Diggin' Deeper + Review: Vegas Knights by Marina Maddix

Diggin' Deeper + Review
Thanks for stopping by!

*This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review*

Vegas Knights(Book #1 in the Red Veil series)
Amazon | BN
Author: Marina Maddix
Publisher: Self Published (March 8, 2013)
Genre: Erotica, Adult, 179 pages
ASIN: B00BN1XN4K
My Copy: eBook

SUMMARY:

Vegas Knights is the much-anticipated novel-length sequel to Marina’s popular erotic/romantic short story Knight Fall. The books can be read on their own or in sequence.

After a passionate public encounter with a mysterious and very sexy biker, big girl Kelly Saunders finds herself on the ride of her life. Her 'Knight on shining armor' — Rick Knight, heir to a motorcycle legacy — whisks her away from her soul-sucking corporate job to Las Vegas, where she finds the road to love is treacherous.

As urgent business matters demand more and more of Rick’s attention, Kelly is left to wonder about the future of their relationship. A ruthless betrayal throws her life into turmoil, and a devastating discovery threatens to pull them apart. Is their love just so much Vegas glitter or is it strong enough to survive beyond the dazzling lights of Sin City?

MY REVIEW:
AHH! This is my first Marina Maddix novel and she can now count me as one of her fans. *fan girling* I absolutely loved Vegas Knights. Before I jump into this review, let me just say that I devoured Vegas Knights in one sitting. That's how good it was *wipes brow*  — Alrighty, moving on...

Kelly Saunders is a voluptuous artist (struggling, might I add) who finds herself leaving her life behind after a hot encounter with the oh-so-sexy-biker Rick Knight. Rick asks Kelly to go away with him to Vegas for 2 weeks after their little tryst in the back of a gas station (gag... I KNOW! but still hot in its own way...if it's a sexy biker of course), and of course she says yes! Duh, because what's she got to lose...right? YOLO? hahaha.

Once the budding couple makes their way to Vegas, Rick leaves Kelly to her own devices as he settles some stuff that have him stuck in meetings with lawyers til' no end! Kelly soon finds her feet in Vegas, stumbling upon a co-op group for striving artists and soon Kelly loses her self in her art, painting on canvas what her words can't express. Her growing feelings for Rick Knight. Those feelings she can't express to him because: 1- it's too soon and 2- he's never around! oh and 3-it's just supposed to be a little fling, for two little weeks...or so she thinks ;)

Whew. I'll admit, this book was pretty predictable but still damned good. Marina Maddix weaves the story of growing love with haters on the side just bidding their time to tear you down and push you away. I was kind of thrown off with the fast relationship between Kelly and Rick, but you can't help but to just swoon along with Kelly as Rick calls her beautiful and makes her feel loved and safe. There were a few background characters that I loved (even though they had a page or two).
"Hey, Assholes! Some of us have to get up early to go fry up some shit for the tourists tomorrow. Unless you want hash brown nuggets shoved so far up your ass they shoot out your nose, I'd suggest either shutting the fuck up or getting the fuck out."
-Candy
Oh, but Candy needs more page time. Candy is a minor character, but still kick ass and totally stands out in the few pages she was mentioned in.

Message for MMaddix: Beach Bum Reads is demanding more page time for Candy the PINK goth ;) Pretty please, with extra whipped cream on top ^_^

Soooo let's recap, shall we??

The Book: Was pretty good.
The Story: Predictable but still awesome
The Characters: Well developed and believable
The Sex: Vanilla but still hot. I mean...Rick Knight is planning on buying out Victoria Secret just to replace all the damaged panties RAAAWR ;)

I would definitely recommend this book. There is a prequel to this awesome book. I didn't read it and did just fine without having read it, but if you want the story (and the steamy sex) as to how Kelly and Rick met, then go ahead and get Knight Falls and read that one first ^_^
MY RATING:

Ana: Welcome to Beach Bum Reads! Thanks for stopping by!
MMaddix: Thank you so much for having me, Ana! It’s fun to chat with another California girl.

Ana: Woot woot ;) Gotta love us Cali girls!

...Tell us a little bit about yourself (or a lot, we’re not a judging bunch)
MMaddix: I’m a sports journalist by trade (under a different name), and have been working in the industry for a decade, but fiction has become a bit of an obsession for me. I’m married to a very supportive guy who thinks I walk on water but doesn’t let me get away with shit. Gotta love a man with a firm hand! We live in the San Francisco Bay Area with our 15-year-old cat Fred.

Ana: You’re stuck on an island and have an unlimited supply of three items. What are those three items?
MMaddix:  Fresh Georgia peaches, Stephen King books and drinking water.

Ana: Who would you kiss? Who would you fuck? And who would you marry?
MMaddix:  I’d kiss Johnny Depp (those lips!). I’d fuck the actor Sam Rockwell because I’ve always crushed on him and he just oozes sex appeal and self-confidence. And I’d marry Ryan Gosling because I would love to wake up to ‘Hey girl…’ every morning for the rest of my life!

Ana: If you had the chance to act out any sex scene from any book, what sex scene would it be?
MMaddix: How lame is this? The one from Gone with the Wind, when Rhett takes Scarlett. It’s the original dubcon (dubious consent) story, but it’s totally hot. Alpha male tames bratty socialite. Spank me, Rhett!

Ana: Is the glass half empty or half full?
MMaddix:  It’s half full for three weeks out of the month. Can I get a woot?
Ana: you can get TWO! Woot woot!

...If you could be any rockstars’ groupie, who would it be and why?
MMaddix: Well, back in the day, my hubby was a D-list rockstar (he prefers the term ‘musician’ but I’ve heard a lot of stories that are decidedly rockstar-ish), so I guess I’m the ultimate groupie: I married him! But if we’re going for A-list rockstars, I’d have to choose a young Steven Tyler. Damn, he was so ugly he was hot back then. Now, he’s just freakish!

Ana: If you could pit two men against each other to fight to the death for you, who would those two men be?
MMaddix: Trick question, Ana! One of them has to die, so I can’t pick two hotties! Lemme think… One of them would, of course, be Johnny Depp. (Call me gauche, I don’t care; he’s freakin’ hot!) The other would have to be smaller and unable to defend himself so Johnny could be all mine. I think I’ll go with Woody Allen — for so many reasons!
Ana: HAHA! I'm gonna have to be more specific next time and make them both hotties ;)

...If you could redo any part of your life, which part would it be and why?
MMaddix: Ooh, we’re getting serious here. Honestly, I regret very little in my life, even though I’ve had some very unpleasant experiences. They’ve made me who I am today, and I kinda like me! But if I were to redo something, it would be not having a good handle on my finances from the beginning of adulthood. Math isn’t my strong suit (what can I say, I’m a writer), so I always used that as an excuse to ignore the obvious: that I was spending more than I earned. Consequently, I never saved much. I now have control of my finances and that’s such an empowering feeling!

Ana: Okay, last question… and I’ve gotta ask… are you a beach bum?
MMaddix: Oh, hellz yes! I’m a sailor so the ocean is like home to me. That probably makes me half-beach bum, half-boat bum, but it adds up to one big bum!

Ana: Thanks for stopping by! It was a pleasure having you here today :)
MMaddix: Thank you, Ana. Now I’ve got to go work on my tan…

Think Fast:

Ana: Wine or Jack Daniels?
MMaddix: Wine, unless you switch Jack Daniels to Don Julio tequila.

Ana: Kinky or Vanilla?
MMaddix: I’m a vanilla girl when it comes to erotica AND food.

Ana: Vampires or Werewolves?
MMaddix: Werewolves. Ooh, that alpha….

Ana: This or That?
MMaddix: This.

Ana: Day or Night?
MMaddix: Day.

Ana: Sleep or Insomnia?
MMaddix: Sleep!

Ascent of Blood
(Book #1 in the Red Veil series)
Amazon | BN
Author: Cassia Leo
Publisher: Self Published (October 26,2012)
Genre: PNR, 195 pages
ASIN: B009YN23K4
My Copy: eBook

SUMMARY:

Sometimes, love is conceived in the mind of a man long before it is ever realized.

1990, Cardiff, Wales.  Vampire prince, Sebastian Pearce, has waited six-hundred years for the right human mate. His own beloved mother was a mortal capable of carrying immortal offspring. While vampires no longer require live donors for sustenance, Mother Nature has played a cruel trick on them making breeders a rare commodity. As numbers in Sebastian’s Imperial House continue to dwindle, his virgin bride eludes him. That is, until he happens upon a young woman searching for information about a sacred vampire text, the Book of Descent. Sebastian’s desire for her is more potent than anything he’s felt for another woman, but Everleigh Marbut isn’t innocent. She’s an American with a mind of her own, and worst of all, she’s already carrying an immortal being. As Sebastian and Everleigh fight their attraction to each other, they don’t realize they’re being lured into a battle pitting medieval myth against the power of modern science to recreate life until it’s too late.

The destiny of his lineage, and the bond forged between them, now rests in their acceptance of each other as they are.

MY REVIEW:
Is there such thing as a typical vampire book anymore? There are so many twists and turns in these vampy stories, that I can't really pin point what is different and what falls back on the original. Ascent of Blood has all it's bloody goodness that all vamp books possess, but it's also got its little details that set it apart from other vampire books you've probably read.

Sebastian Pearce is a really old vampire who's been waiting for his mate to come along. But not just any mate, nope, never that. He's been waiting for a human mate. And when Everleigh Marbut makes an appearance in a book store looking for the Book of Ascent, Sebastian knows she is the one he's been waiting for. How? Because he can't get a whiff of her blood and he can't help but be drawn to her. Oh, not to mention the sparks (seriously) that fly between them when they touch.

But, he doesn't get her all that easy. What's the fun in that? Once Sebastian escapes from being captured by the Nosferatu, he takes Everleigh with him and is bound to make her his mate and the mother to his unborn children. The vampire race is dying out and Everleigh is the salvation to this race. The only human who can breed vampire children and live through it. But, he'll have to wait for her to breed any of his children, because she is already pregnant.

Once Everleigh is shacked up at Casa de Sebastian—though house would be a major lie, more like the castle of all castles. Yup, that just about does it—Everleigh gives Sebastian a little taste of what he's in for. If he thought he was going to get a woman who was going to comply to his every whim, then he better think again. Everleigh Marbut might be a tiny little thing, but a push around and a weak woman she is not.

As months and Everleigh's pregnancy go on, Sebastian is finding it more and more hard to stay away from her. Though he despises the child growing in her, he has made a deal that he will not harm the child and take Everleigh as his mate. All the while trying to find information about why Everleigh's blood type is what it is and who was behind the murder of her family when she was younger.

Ascent of Blood was really hard for me to get into. Though the world was wonderfully written and wasn't that hard to follow, I found it oddly "hard" for me to get into the book at all. Once I hit the half way mark is when things starting picking up for me. Characters start to "click" in my head and the story itself became more intriguing. Though I'm still confused with this whole story, I thought it was a great introduction to a series and will be looking forward to reading the next installment.

Windy City writer, Elizabeth Marx, brings cosmopolitan life alive in her fiction—a blend of romance, fast-paced Chicago living, and a sprinkle of magical realism. Elizabeth resides with her husband, girls, and two cats who’ve spelled everyone into believing they’re really dogs. She grew up in the city, has traveled extensively, and still says there’s no town like Chi-Town.

Touted by the tabloids as the biggest rock star of our generation, Abigail Kelly is used to being in the spotlight. But beyond the glam of Hollywood, her world is falling apart. Still reeling from the death of her brother and wilting under the iron fist of Max, her manager, Abby banishes herself to the secluded beaches of Florida for the summer, thinking some anonymity and sunshine are just what she needs. What she finds, instead, is Todd, an ex-marine eager to embrace life after war. Together, Abby and Todd find the balance Abby’s life has been missing.

That is, until Max resurfaces, demanding Abby return to Los Angeles to record her band’s newest album. As the pressures of public appearances, paparazzi, and late-night recordings start to mount, Abby will have to risk everything or lose the life she always dreamed of.

Ophelia London’s ABBY ROAD is a love letter to music—both the kind you cherish and the kind you create—as well as a beautiful love story that proves even when everyone in the world can recognize your face, the only people who matter are those who can see inside your heart.

Abby Road is a story of a rock star lost and trying to find her way back to being happy. Abigail Kelly takes us into her world of a singer overwhelmed by many things...mainly the death of her brother. While Abby takes a summer break at her sister's house, she meets and falls in love with a local..this is where Todd enters and he was a breath of fresh air for Abby.

While I enjoyed the romance between Abby and Todd, this story started out and remained slow for me. The story didn't pick up and it took away some of the excite~ness out of the read for me. I thought the world building was good and you actually felt what Abby was going through throughout the book; the pain & guilt of loosing her brother, being stalked by the paparazzi and the everyday pressures of being a star. Abby Road I think is a story of moving on and taking control. The world and characters were strong and likable even with the slow feel of the tale.

When Rainey Ann McKenna's dying husband asked her always to be there for his brother, Tex McCoy, she had no idea that five years later her promise would bring a murderer into her home. According to the conditions of his release, for the next three months Tex will be on house arrest. Obligated by a promise, Rainey Ann takes the gorgeous but dangerous felon in.

Tex McCoy may have gone to jail for murder, but after a decade of being incarcerated, he too is dead inside. Resurrecting any of Tex's feelings—including the ones he once had for Rainey Ann McKenna—could be fatal. In jail, he fantasized about Rainey Ann. Behind steel bars it was acceptable to think of her in such a way, but in the real world, it's dangerous.

Yet as desire awakens, Rainey Ann’s threat heightens. After years of being locked up, Tex is ready to reclaim some control, and his fantasy woman is only a touch away.

Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains explicit sex scenes and/or situations (including BDSM) and adult language, and may be considered offensive to some readers.

“Why spank me?” she interrogated, demanding an explanation.

“First. It’s a fitting punishment. Second, while you’re naked, tempting me with all your sweetness, you need to accept that I am the boss. Third,” he shrugged, “you’ll like it.”

“Sure.” She snorted in the most unladylike manner to all three explanations.

“Have you ever been put over a man’s knee and spanked? I mean…for pleasure?”

“No!” Shit! Why the hell, when he talks like that, do I get so damn wet!

The sneaky smile finally made it to his eyes. “Then you don’t know if you’d like it, do you?”

She chewed her lower lip. Contemplating? “What if I don’t take my punishment?”

“Simple. Then I won’t touch you again.”

“Ever?”

“Right. You’ve broken the rules twice. I don’t believe in three strikes. You know that, Rainey Ann.”

“Will it hurt?” The question fell from her mouth before she had a chance to stop it.

“Yes, but only in a good way.”

Gnawing her bottom lip, she wondered if she was actually considering it. Could it, or, moreover, would it, feel good to have his big, strong hand smacking me on the ass? Wetness spilled to her nether regions again at the thought. Hold up! He is planning to use his hand, right? Her eyes scampered around the room, stopping at the door. A belt hung from a hook. Perhaps I should ask him to clarify. She shot him a wary look.

He was intently watching her. “No.” He shook his head. “Not your first time.”

My first time? How about never? She gulped with the mental declaration.

“The pain I’ll give you will be a good one, a pleasurable one. It will not hurt,” he stressed.

“And that’s a promise?”

He offered a slow, reassuring nod. “You know the rules. You can stop me at any time. You control me, Rainey Ann. You determine how far I go.”

Another snort tickled her nose. I control him? Now that’s an absurd but tantalizing notion.

“You control what I can and can’t do to your body,” he clarified. He made it sound as though she wielded all of the power.

“But how can a punishment give me pleasure?”

“When you come over here and lie across my lap with your bare ass in the air and ask me to spank you—”

“Ask? You want me to ask you to…uh…to…” she stammered.

“Yes.” He leaned toward her. “You’ll ask me,” he said, emphasizing the condition. “You may control me, but at the same time, you will give me what I want most.”

“And that is?”

“Why, your sweet surrender, Rainey Ann. I want to take you beyond a place you fear.” He sank back into the footboard. “Now, enough talk. Make a decision. Either you walk out the door, fully aware of the penalty if you decide not to take the punishment, or you come over here and resume the position to accept it.”

Writing, what other way is there to describe it—it's Kelly's conviction. After working in the human health field profession for nearly two decades, Kelly's aware of how deficient many people's daily lives are of true human connection. Through her writing, she strives to reconnect readers with those all-too-rare feelings of unquenchable desire, heated passion, and splendid euphoria. The recipe for the men in her stories: dark and mysterious, strong and confident and, of course, besides magnificent bodies, and shameless aptitudes, they must have a heart you want to rip out of the pages (or your e-Reader) and take to bed with you at night.
