Grim Reality, #1
Publisher: Red Hot Publishing
Publication Date: October 17th 2013

What do you get when you cross a hockey mom with the grim reaper?

Me, Lisa Carron. If being a depressed, frumpy, widowed mother of three wasn't bad enough, I just found out I'm a grim reaper. I know what you're thinking. Wow, that's kind of sexy and full of awesomeness. Hardly. Oh, and my clients? Stupid people. Like I don't get enough of that from the living.

Since Alaska is big and angels of death are few, I've been partnered with reaper extraordinaire, Nate Cramer. He's strong, silent, and way too good looking for my recently widowed state. Oh, and he reaps violent criminals, so that should be interesting.

Forget the danger and the hours of self-analysis it will take for me to find my reaper mojo. My biggest problem? Hiding it all from my overly attentive family and nosy neighbors. Now that's going to take a miracle.

To Catch Her Death is a wonderfully written story of Lisa Carron, widowed for a year now after the death of her husband,  Lisa just recently fouud out that she's a Grim Reaper. Oh, life is just fab!

What did I think about the characters? loved them. Lisa and Nate were the perfect team together and I thought they complimented each other well. Lisa was funny to boot and sarcastically snarky, but not overly so. She had that very sort of dry sense of humor that I like. I liked her a lot and this is good because of late, I've been having the hardest time relating to some female characters. Lisa was real...a relatable character, she was still attempting to recover from her husband's death. Now she's a single mom struggling to take care of herself and her kids. I loved her reaction to things...she's definitely a character I can relate too. And Nate...hmmmm, sexxy Nate. Oh the man was a bit pushy..somewhat frustrating, but he was a bit of a sweetheart too.

The story itself? I love Boone Brux's take on Grim Reapers as their not immortals. No, these reapers are human you can see from Lisa. And the set up and world building? awesome. Grim Reaper Services or GRS is set up like a regular office. Yeah, Lisa has a something of a regular job...she just works odd hours and well, she reaps souls. I liked that Lisa had to actually fill out paperwork when she accepted the job. To Catch Her Death is mainly Lisa's story. We ride along with her as she adjust to life as a widow, single mom and now Grim Reaper.  There is a lot of character and story build up in this book, a lot is going on and it got a little overwhelming at times BUT its a good start to what seems to be a very intersting series.
