AtoZ: G ~ It's All GREEK to Me

Share it Please

Welcome to another day of the A to Z challenge and its so very obvious I don't know the alphabet...lols. Because I posted H (Heroines/Heroes) yesterday so I have to post G today. Yeah...I'm special, I know...lmbo!

Anyway...I have love for books with Greek mythology. I'm a big fan of history, but those Gods and Goddesses hold something special in my heart. It all started as a kid, every Sunday I use to watch movies like Clash of the Titans (the original folks) and I remember Lou Ferrigno playing Hercules. Reading books about how Zeus was such a man-whore..seriously, how many demi-god babies did he have? But what was most fascinating was their immortatlity, Gods! I wish I could live forever and not age. Oh, man..the shit I would get into, lols!

Currently, I have the hots for Brad Pitt's Archilles...omg, the butt scene.
*slobs a little* oh! sorry. Goshdang, I would love to have been that woman!

So, it's always so nice to see when a author can twist the past and make the Greeks work for the story they're trying to tell. Who are some of my favoite book greeks/immortals? well....

Archeon - Sherilyn Kenyon

                                                      DEMETRIUS - Elisabeth Naughton

Styxx - Sherrilyn Kenyon

Gideon - Gena Showalter

        Ares - Lisa Beth Darling

                                                           Strider - Gena Showalter

Who are your favorites?

  4. Good reading list. I am not much of novelist reader. I keep things pretty simple in my reads to articles on the net. My attention span on a scale from 1-10 is about 0. I kind you not. I get so distracted that I have to limit myself to short pieces. Maybe, one day I'll grow out of this phase. I'm 52, what do you think? lol

  11. How shivery odd is this! I was just thinking about Lisa Beth Darling's Aries when I started reading your post. I have not read Naughton or Kenyon's books yet, but I love Gena Showalter's series. I'm a fan of Laura Kaye's Hearts of the Anemoi series. I'm keen on any mythology really, but the Greeks do stand out.

  12. I haven't read a good witch heroine story in a while. I enjoy it when there is that whole 'rock and a hard place' feel to the plot. Sounds good.

  13. lols! very shivery :D

Ares is very different in her book...he's a big mean so and so, but I liked him. I haven't read G. Showalter's Anemoi series...any good?

  15. Laura kaye's Anemoi are Greek Wind and Season gods and there are four books one for each god. I thought they were good. They touched the emotions for sure. And the covers are all gorgeous and reflect the god and his season. I just finished the last one for review so they're all out now.

  16. Oh, and yes, Lisa's Aries is very different. I found out about her book because we share a fandom of the late Kevin Smith who played Aries in the Hercules and Xena TV series that were out a little while back. She let me know that she was writing her own take on Aries so I, of course had to read it. ;)

  18. He made a good Aries, he passed away right? I remember something about that...

  19. I've read a few, but I only liked one so far. I'm hard on heroines so that's probably why I'm not drawn to witchy books or series.

  20. yep, so am I. I'm totally with you there Sophia.

  21. Not to sound bossy, but hold that fourth one if yo absolutely can until you get through the middle books. They all tie together and you won't have a clue what's going on b/c the third really sets up the fourth. Big spoilers too.

  22. Good! I didn't wish to get pushy, but these are really good especially the last two so I didn't want you to miss out.

  24. Ooh yes Kenyon is one of my favorites! And Laura Kaye too. Hrm. I think those are my top ones.

And Sharonda. To be that woman...delightful. But to be the crew members on the other side of that view...even better! lol
