EXCERPT
“Tell me again why you can’t stay?” Tristan says as we stand in front of the elevator.

“Because it’s just not a good idea. And I don’t have anything to wear.”

“Actually, you do,” he says. “Mrs. Naven found some things in the laundry after you left. Problem solved.” He takes both my hands and backs up into the sitting room.

“Tristan, we still have some things to sort out. Tonight was great, but I still don’t think I’m cut out to be your submissive.”

“Just my submissive?”

I drop my head. “No. Anyone’s.”

“You’re afraid you’ll have panic attacks again, aren’t you?”

I feel like I’m about to be swallowed up by the sincere blue eyes tracking and pinning mine so effectively I can’t look away. “Yes. And I’m no use to you if I can’t endure the scenes, particularly the occasional disciplinary consequences.”

“What if there was a way you could?” His finger traces a gentle path down my cheek.

“What do you mean?”

“Just what I said. If there was a way we could work around the panic attacks, would you come back? For good?”

“You mean until you perfect your exit strategy? That’s what you venture capitalists call it, don’t you?”

“Ah, someone’s been paying attention at our semiannual business meetings?”

“I have a rather exacting mentor who insists on being heard.”

“Asshole,” he says and pulls me close.

I place my hands on his chest in an effort to sustain some emotional equilibrium, but he doesn’t let me go. “I’m the one who’ll be ass-out when you lose confidence in your investment and decide it’s time to diversify your portfolio again.”

“I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon, Keisha.” He draws me closer, palming my hips, and I get his point. Pun intended. “I can’t seem to get enough of you.”

I slip out of his arms and put some space between us. “Chemistry has never been an issue for us, Tristan. I know your lifestyle is important to you, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up.”

The truth is, I’m hopelessly in love with a man who hasn’t given me any indication that he will ever want a real relationship. Nothing has changed on that front. He still just wants just a Dominant/submissive relationship, which might enjoy a longevity his other arrangements haven’t had, but it will eventually end.

Can I really do this? I certainly don’t think I’ll become any less in love with him over time. Reentering a sexual relationship with Tristan now would be exceedingly counterproductive to the reasons I left in the first place, but I am hard-pressed to make myself walk away again.

Tristan moves so close behind me that I can feel the warmth of his skin, his breath wafting over my ear as he speaks. “We’ll take things slow—again.”

He runs a finger along my arm, and gooseflesh sprouts like ivy in its wake. I feel a pull toward him that can only be described as magnetic—my body eager to be reunited to his. Even though it could conceivably be more painful for me this time around, I’m not sure if leaving him again is within the realm of possibility. I can’t rationalize staying, but leaving becomes increasingly more difficult with each second I remain in his presence.

I turn to face him. “Slow isn’t necessarily going to keep the attacks at bay.” Or guard my heart if he decides he’s done with me.

“We’ll figure out a way to do that together.” He takes me into his arms again. “These three weeks have been ... just please stay.”

I look into his eyes, and all I want to do at that moment is kiss him senseless. He may not have given me a declaration of love, but somehow I know this is as close as I’m going to get with a man like Tristan White. For now.

As an answer, I stand on my tiptoes, throw my arms around his neck, and kiss him with everything in me.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
L. V. Lewis is a married, mother of four who lives in South Georgia and works in the Florida Panhandle. A new author who decided stories like Fifty Shades of Grey needed a little more diversity and comedy, penned Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever as a parodied response to those wildly popular books from a woman of color. A voracious reader since kindergarten, Lewis loves nothing more than to curl up with a good book and a glass of wine. Now that Lewis has young adults who think they don't need their parents anymore, she has taken up another time-draining career of writing. Her love for writing is only eclipsed by her love for her family.

You can show a video, a music player..whateva suites your fancy. Just remember to have some fun!

Happy Tuesday! Aannnndddddd.....today starts off my week. I didn't get much reading done, but I enjoyed the extended weekend. I saw a good movie and just chilled.

So today's jam will be all about Grace Jones. Prolific, iconic and fashionable, Grace Jones changed me. When she stepped on the scene...this dark, gorgeous woman became a fashion icon and a singer who sung to her own rythm. Grace didn't give a shit about societies thoughts of her. She simply did her thing and in that end, became my role model. Growing up, seeing her...advertising her blackness with a vigor I had never seen before. She was, no...no she IS epic to me.

Ladies and Gentlemen...here's Grace!

Yes, what was I saying...yes! yes...I'm a 80's baby...I love the 80's, it was my time. And Rock of Ages fed my 80's baby to the Tee...

*3.5

Jessica Sinclair is extremely attracted to her boss Lucas Wright, she might very well be love with him. You can probably say the same about Lucas, so these two play a game everytime they meet. Jessica gets off when she hears Lucas's voice and he knows that she does...Lucas also knows that Jessica likes a lil pain with her pleasure and he is a tad sadistic. Now these two are not your whips and chains kinds of people...they don't play that way. In short Jessica likes extended foreplay to the point where it causes her pain and Lucas is just the sort of male give her what she needs. He's not a dom although he is a alpha male and she is not a sub...although she is submissive, but Jessica is also a masochist.

Rapt is a short read and here you follow along as these two agree to one night of play together. What will happen after their night ends? Will they continue with their work relationship? Or will they succumb to their ever growing feelings for one another and take the relationship to the next level? Hmmmm....

I enjoyed the relationship between Lucas and Jessica, they were seemingly written for one another. I liked how Lucas was a alpha, but he wasn't overbearing. He was a very sweet guy...in short he wasn't a alpha asshole, lols. Although I do like my assholes every now and again. Jessica was a very likable character too and I'm very hard on my females. But Jessica even though she had her doubts about where the relationship with Lucas could or couldn't go was still a engaging character.

I only gave this one 3 1/2 heels because of the numerous grammatical errors. They were a plenty and mildly distracting. However, the story still flowed very well despite them. All and all, Rapt is a sexxy short read...good stuff.

Quote-Tastic #21 ~ J's Crush by Anya Breton

Hosted by Anna over at Herding Cats & Burning Soup, join us every Monday and share a favorite quote from a favorite or current read.

This weeks quote is courtesy of Anya Breton's J's Crush (Randy's Diner #3).

"So...what?" Spencer's voice was rougher than he'd meant it to be. "I'm supposed to grope you just so my--"The expectant lean of her head broke through his mixed-up thoughts. "You think I won't want to tell Michael--"

Her mouth cut his exclamation short. Sweet lips muzzled his protest. Jenny's arms curled behind is neck as she leaned fully into his palms. As if the perfect pair of breasts hadn't been torment enough, her tongue delicately flicked past his lips. A groan echoed across the diner--his groan, a sound closer to torture than pleasure.

His best friend's little sister shouldn't have been the sweetest thing he'd ever tasted.

Cutting the Budget ~ (Week 3)

Hosted by Shari over at Delighted Reader. It's a great way to keep track on that book spending limit we alwasy set ourselves up on, but never seem to follow.
(*taxes are included in book prices)

It was another slow week at Salacious Reads so that means not a lot of book buys either. I have watching my pennies because I have a lot of things coming up in the next couple of weeks so frivolous spending is out of the question. But I did pick up some goodies, the rest were adding to my various wishlists.

Secrets by Kiru Tay ~ $4.27 (a tad expensive for the amount of pages, but I really wanted to read this one and I did and dammit it's good. Now I have to wait for the 3rd book. Oh come on Kiru, I need to know what happens when Ben & Selina go visit his Uncle.)

Prized by Cassandra Carr ~ $0.00 (thanks to Liz over at Fictional Candy...I'll be reading this one soon)

Black Ice by Deep Pink ~ $0.00

Traffic Stop: An Adventure, Twice Told by W. Lynn Chantale ~ $0.00

I also received L.V. Lewis's Jungle Fever Duology...don't have a cover for that one :(

Sunday Review: Her Savage Scot by Christina Phillips

Source: Author
*for the purpose of an honest review
Format: eBook (ePub)
Published: November 20, 2013
Blurb
Series: Highland Warrior Chronicles #1
Author: Christina Phillips
Genre: Historical Romance
Sex: Medium Sexual Content

Her Savage Scot was quite the excellent read. Connor Mackenzie and Aila, princess of Pictland made for an exciting couple which led to a very exciting story.

Complex characters combined with a very complex story line made this read nail biting and intense. Christina Phillips has made my love for Scots grow in leaps and bounds.

Connor was your very typcial Scot, a lil savage, a lil brutish, and a whole lots of sexxy. Aila was of course the most perfect princess. These two have a misunderstanding of each others people BUT they do have one common enemy and that is the Vikings.

As this story progresses, I continuously asked myself what would become of the relationship between Connor and Aila? would they survive the politics and betrayls from both their lands? Will their love survive the strongest of family bonds?

C. Phillips has managed to pen a very intricate tale...this is not your standard historical scottish tale. There is many layers to this onion to peel and I loved every bit of it. This is a wonderful start to what seems to be a fantastic series.

*As much as I liked this story, the price for the eBook is erm....pricey. Like more than $7 bucks pricey.

Review: Ladies 4 Gents by Dez Burke

Source: Purchased
Format: eBook (Mobi)
Published: May 19, 2013
Blurb
Series: NA
Author: Dez Burke
Genre: Contemporary Interracial Romance
Sex: Strong Sexual Content

So you need a date for your bosses wedding, a boss who thinks you can't get a man. What do you do? Well, you take the advise of your best friend and hire a male escort. It's not something you usually would do, but again..you are kind of desperate.

Tiana, our female lead is a serious young woman. She works...works and works. All fun and no play kinda makes Tiana a dull girl. But with her upcoming bosses wedding, she needs a man and fast. So her best friend Alyssa makes a suggestion, hire a male escort from the well know site Gents4Ladies. Aylssa has never used the site herself, but *she heard* of this dude Jordan who is listed there and he comes highly recommended. Now Alyssa has quite the connection to Jordan...oh man, it was exciting and nope, I'm not saying what the connection is. But, it's so cool the way she set these two up...lols. I hope Dez Burke writes a book for her. Anyways, Tiana is a little suspicious but gives in and after looking up Jordan and liking what she sees, she contacts him.

Jordan who is a well known and respected financial manager is very shocked when some woman calls his phone looking to hire him as a escort, its truly a WTF moment. He is of course pissed, but curious too. Who would post his picture and information on a male escort site? In a guise to figure out what is going on and he does like the sound of Tiana's voice over the phone, he agrees to meet and escort her to her bosses wedding. His initial plan is to tell her that this is one big mistake and again find out if Tiana knows more about his information being on the site. But when he walks into the wedding hall and sees Tiana, he's instantly attracted to her and that plan flies south for the winter.

So what was suppose to be a clear up of a big misunderstanding ends up with Jordan & Tiana taking "their" date past one day AND becomes an all out sexual romp between these two. The problem that come along is as Jordan continues to play the role of escort,  both he and Tiana are both starting to have strong feelings for one another. How will Tiana feel when she finds out that the man she's starting to fall for isn't at all what he says he is? And can Jordan deal with the consequences of his lie?

There is no deep moving plot here BUT this story rolled into a satisfying read. Jordan and Tiana were complicated characters as they're both a little jaded at love and relationships. Tiana has self confidence issues and Jordan is very much an alpha male and oh ma god, the man was sexually aggressive. Thank goodness Tiana liked her men a lil rough and in control.

It all blended very well together. The romance was instantaneous, but here I really didn't mind it so much. These two are so attracted to one another and they pretty much acted on those attractions from the start. But again, they both have issues making their feelings known because they've both scared of being hurt. So you pretty much have them dancing around each other trying to figure out what the other is feeling or thinking. And you know, that can sometimes be frustrating when you're reading because you want the couple in question to cut it out and get it together. But I think it fit for this story especially with Jordan playing the role that he was.

Gents 4 Ladies for me was fun, sexxy and omg! a  hot read. Sometimes, you need a little fun with your book reads and then add some explosive sex...YAASS! This girl likes it. I'm glad I changed my mind and read this one. I've become a big fan of Dez Burke and the woman is becoming one of my favorite and go to authors in the interracial romance genre.
