Minerva Dobbs knows that happily-ever-after is a fairy tale, especially with a man who asked her to dinner to win a bet. Even if he is gorgeous and successful Calvin Morrisey. Cal knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs. Even if she does wear great shoes and keeps him on his toes. When they say good-bye at the end of their evening, they cut their losses and agree never to see each other again.

But Fate has other plans, and it's not long before Min and Cal meet again. Soon, they're dealing with a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kreme donuts, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a freakishly intelligent cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of. Including the biggest gamble of all--true love.

AHH. YES! When I say I'm a romance junkie, I effing mean it. I absolutely loved this book! Min was a breath of fresh air! She's fun and quirky! OH! and not to mention witty. And Calvin *whistles* he sure is something too *swoon*.

Despite the length of this book, I found it quite easy to keep reading. Of course JCrusie made that extremely easy to do. Her characters are well developed and believable too. Min isn't your typical DDG (drop dead gaaawgeous) female. Nope, no siree. She's got some meat on her and she's short but loves to hide her curvy, voluptuous figure behind boxy clothing... at least her shoe collection is surprisingly "fun". Calvin is your tall, dark and handsome. Hot cup of coffee in the morning. Cool drink of lemonade on a sunny day. Well.. I could keep going, but I'm assuming you get the picture now. Just like Min, he's easy to love. And behind his great looks, is a great brain! Hello, talk about full blown package. Where can I find me one of those and can I sign up? ;)

It all starts off with a bet. Overheard by ears that didn't hear the entire conversation... and well... soon enough both parties are playing out this bet for two completely different reasons. As time moves on you learn more about both of the main characters. Like, Min loves food (especially donuts) but because of her flipping mother tries to stray from those delicious treats. Can I just insert here that I absolutely hated Min's mother? I even cried a little for Min when her mother would berate her for not losing weight. *tears* JCrusie... why you do this to me? xD Oh, and for all your Elvis lovers out there... and yes, by Elvis I mean both Presley and Costello, you're in luck. Why, you ask? Well, because with all that romance and good food you're getting, JCrusie also throws in some good music. But you're gonna have to pick sides. Costello or Presely?!

So, yeah... there's food... SexyFeedMeOnTopOfAParkBenchAndHaveFoodGasms kind of food... I wish I could just wrap my review in a coating of chocolate... or two and deliver it to you in a pink donut box *nods* yepp. Can you picture it? Sigh. I'm getting hungry. Let me wrap this baby up.

  • Min: Awesome AF
  • Cal: Sexy-Feed-Me-Donuts-Now-Please
Plot: Would seem cliche, but surprisingly wasn't.
Execution: Why is there no part 2? *cries silently*
Recommend:  YES! Duh! I'm still crying that there is no part 2! But JCrusie is definitely on my "To-Buy" list from now on!

  1. food & sex...what a great combination. This is my first hearing of her too, but I'm liking what she's writing :D

  2. lol. I might have exaggerated that part just a tinsy bit... but it's more like food and sexual frustration xDD it's so good tho.

  3. it is incredibly fun. I read a few reviews about how they didn't like Min.. and I'm like... but MIN is AWESOME!! xD

  4. Well thank good gravy it's good :) great review
