Oooo you know I read a female rocker but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. Oh the secret baby trope drives me just bonkers. I've read one where it was okay but it was a historical and involved both of them thinking the other dead then finding each other years later. So not quite the same trope but she did keep the child hidden until she knew the hero was safe and not going to try to hurt her. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it and really like parts despite some of your hot buttons getting pressed. And dang that is a THICK book!
Yeah...I can see those tropes working in historical romances, drives me nuts in contemporaries. Girl, I put this suckered down for daaays, lmbo. Been a while since I read something so long. It was exciting to read a book with a female rocker :)
Thank you so much for the tasteful video review Sharonda. I agree if I were to rewrite the book it would have been shorter. However, my characters took over this book and it kind of took on a mind of it's own. It wasn't my intention to make the child a secret because she wanted to tell him. It was more Chay's bipolar illness made it impossible for her to find a good time to tell him especially after he made it known he never wanted children. I was told I should have wrote and publish this books in parts because I wanted to have more of a build up and adult story of the present love rebuilding, but by the time I got their the book was already so long and I couldn't figure out what part to cut from it and I couldn't cheat my readers by forcing them to buy book 2 to get a happy for now. Thank you for taking a shot and maybe you will enjoy Visual-Kei Love Song, J-pop Love Song, or A Holiday to Remember which are also music theme Romances featuring Black Women and Asian Men. LOL! Yeah, sometimes long is just long and not really necessary. I like menages are true menages. Makes me believe it more. I've read a couple of female rocker romances, but you're right, its rarer.Ugh, hate the secrecy with the child too. Doesn't seem like it was a danger situation and that's the only reason I tolerate it.But glad it balanced on the good side.BTW, loved seeing you in a video. Gorgeous, lady!
You're Welcome and thanks again, Sharonda for the review!
