My Review

Okay, the blurb pretty much gives you a good idea of what this story is about. So, I'm just going to tell you my thoughts.

Characters ~ I liked both Jackson and Zennifer (and can I say how much I lurvs that name). They were both easy characters to like and being that they were already in a "relationship", I felt IMO that it was easier to relate to them. Growth of both characters throughout the story was well done.

The Story ~ I felt it was a strong story. You pretty much go through both Jackson's and Zennifer's emotions as they try to figure out where this relationship will go. Once Zennifer is given privy to why Jackson broke up with her and what his sexual preferences are...she of course have always wanted a man to be a little more rough with her sexually, but never voiced those urges. Zennifer comes off a little uptight in the story. Everything must be perfect in her personal and professional life, she is the oldest and feels that it is her responsibility(after the death of her father) to take care of her mother. She is always doing something for someone, so yeah...she did come off as a little bit of a control freak. But her not being able to say no also allowed for folks to take advantage of her (like her co-worker and boss). Jackson broke up with Zennifer because he felt that she would bolt once she found out about his personal lifestyle. He was tired of attempting to convert vanilla women into the bdsm lifestyle so once things got a little serious, he backed off. It didn't matter that he fell for Zennifer the moment he met her...he just couldn't deal with the rejection.

The Plot ~ Zennifer and Jackson are basically forced together when they are both invited to a convention that goes on every year in the field they both work in. Jackson has the Vegas trip to convince Zennifer that she is a submissive and that he loves her despite the break up. Zennifer has the Vegas trip to convince herself and Jackson that they belong together. Of course, you know there will be drama and the secondary characters,  Jackson's and Zennifer's coworkers brought it.  Will it work? Can they both get over old wounds and hurts? hmmmm....

Here's the thing ~ I liked the story as a whole although I would have liked more on Jackson's background. We got a lot of Zennifer, but Jackson? Yeah, I wanted just a tad bit more. I loved that the author didn't make Jackson this overbearing dom. Jackson is a Dominant, but he was a normal man fighting his feelings on how he should handle a current situation with his ex. I loved that she made him vulnerable and a little emotional. I thought that was the most enduring part about him. But don't take my words as him being a punk, Jackson definitely held his own when he needed to. Zennifer I got. I can understand why she was wary of Jackson especially after he broke up with her so suddenly and without any warning. She was a likable heroine although I didn't get the whole thing about how she felt guilty about her father's accident...but heh, it was a good part of the story. A bonus, the sexual scenes between these two (when told) was more IMO of love making than just them "playing" together" during their stay in Vegas and the BDSM scenes where done tastefully as well.

Decent story, well told and written. Excellent character development with a well thought out plot. If you are looking a BDSM romantic tale with a new submissive that isn't afraid to learn and a dominant that is a little emotional than I say check out Ms. Midway's Hot Game, it will be a excellent add to your library. I'll will be checking out more of her work.

  1. That's interesting that he's a more emotional dom. So many of the stories with a dom hero tend to paint them rather one-dimensional sometimes like there is a check list of dom behavior they have to follow. I always thought that didn't make sense since each person is unique. Anyhoo....
Yeah, this one does intrigue me.

  2. That is one of the things I dislike..it's like there is this template on what a dom or submissive should be and you are so right, each person is different so yeah....

He was such a different character, I really liked that he showed his feelings

  3. When I read BDSM it's a must that I get into the heads and pasts of the characters. It's deviant behavior after all and I need to understand WHY kink and not vanilla you know? So I totally get it why you want more of Jackson.

  4. Yaasss! Exactly Braine. Just writing characters who are kinky isn't going to work for me. Why are they in this lifestyle and yes what is going in their heads.

I loved the fact that he didn't push it on her. He knew she was interested so he let her come to him by giving her tidbits. Definitely a character I needed to know more about.
