My Review

Glitch is the first book in the Corporate Hitman series. The series itself revolves around three former inmates pulled out of prison for their respective "expertise". You have Glitch, Scratch and then there is Jack.

Glitch is the hacker, Scratch is the mathematical genius, and Jack is the assassin. These three make a very deadly weapon, which is why their handler Eagle pulled them out in the first place. They are basically stealing for Eagle...helping him take out competing companies so his can remain on top.

The first book is Glitch's story aka Liam Gallagher and he is the brain of the group. I also got the feeling that he is also their leader. In vol 1, the corporate hitmen find out their handler is setting them up to take a fall which will pretty much put them all back in jail and neither of them wants that. They always knew...had a inkling that Eagle would do this, but they didn't think it would happen so soon. So while they've been stealing for Eagle, they've also been stealing from him. Setting up their nest egg so that they can get out, go ghost and still live comfortably.

The romance comes in when the guys find out the person that they think is stealing from them is actually a person from Glitch's past. Another hacker who he knew over the computer, Hex aka Aracelli. She is the one who tips them off that Eagle is setting them up. With her help, Glitch and his boys decide to take out Eagle before he takes them out.

As a whole I liked the story. I loved the whole hacker theme and I dug that Glitch was a different type of hero...trust me the man was no punk. But, I liked that he was just a little nerdy, well maybe a whole lot and he was a little awkward when it came to things that didn't have much to do with codes and tech words. Sit Glitch in front of a computer and he could do magic baby, but put dude in front of a relationship?...he might be a little confused.

And Aracelli confused Glitch. He really didn't know who to deal with the emotions he was having about her so he tended to back off and stall. But Aracelli, strong chica she was...was not having it. She was no damsel in distress and could handle her own, so she wouldn't let Glitch just revert into himself. She made him confront his feelings about her and I gotta respect chickie for that.

My dislikes...one,  I thought the story lagged a bit and here is why. Between the relationship build up going on with Glitch and Aracelli and then with the group trying to find out why their handler is setting them up, it made the story a bit repetitive in some places. I didn't want a rushed story..no, not at all. But IMOP the romance got a little bogged down between it all. And that's not to say the romance between these two hackers wasn't hot, it definitely was. I just think it just got a little lost in between everything else that was going on. Two...there were times when I got somewhat lost as to whose head we where in. I think the authors were giving you a bit of all the guys in Glitch's story, which is fine. But, there wasn't enough space in between the characters thoughts for me and that confused me at times.

Still, Glitch is a excellent read. It's definitely a different story element here...I mean you have two hackers in a romance, I lurvs that. You have romance suspense, you have hot guys (and you can never wrong with that). The character and world building is nicely done. The authors also didn't over do it with too much tech talk. I mean you got it..it's suppose to be there, you have two hackers of course. But they make is so you didn't feel like your head is going to explode and that I appreciated very much.

But be warned dahlings, there is a cliffhanger. As we go deeper into the Corporate Hitmen world, next up...the group has to figure out how to deal with their handler setting them up. And then you have Scratch...the half Italian/half Russian numbers guy who finds himself coming face to face with a FBI agent who more than likely will give him a run for his money.

But you know whose story am I looking forward too though? Jack's! yes, I am bias. I love me some Asian persuasion...hmmmm yes ma'am. Oh, where was I? yes...so I recommend Glitch. Love a little romance suspense?...maybe a gorgeous geeky hacker with Buddy Holly glasses? then yeah, this is for you.

My Rating

**I just want to add that the cliffhanger has to do with the overall story arc (the guys finding out a way to deal with their handler's betrayal), not the romance. There is a complete HEA here. Thank you Anna @ Herding Cats!

 A Sexxy Trailer...

  1. LOL! I get lost down rabbit holes contemplating certain heroes too. All three stories sound really good. Thanks for the heads up about the pacing issues and the balance of the romance and suspense. I'm glad this was a good one.

  2. Well that's an interesting set up! Alright so cliffhanger and Vol 1 have me nervous. Is the romance complete in this? And just the background storyline a cliffhanger or is it the HEA that cliffhangs?

  3. Oh yes, the romance is complete. The cliffhanger comes is part of the overall story..the guys finding out a way to take on their handler. I'm confident the romance Will be complete in each story though.

  4. Down the rabbit hole I went, but thank good gravy it was a good one.

    Thanks Sophia..all Ana :)

  5. Perfect! That I can handle. I can so deal in a series when the background storyline is a cliffy but the romance is a full HEA per book. Thank ya Sharonda!

  6. You're welcome. Hmmm, I should probably add that it my review so thank you, lols. I don't want to turn folks away from the story...it's a good one

  7. Their Vol 1 is what had me more nervous. That so often means serial book (the 20 pages here, 50 pages there type).

  8. nope, no serial here. Definitely a complete romance. It's 115 pages I read...yep, a 115.

I'm not a fan of that low page stuff, it just irritates me. And then the prices sometimes make my eyes pop out of my head. like you gonna charge THAT for 20- 50 pages.

I had one author (whom I love) that does that sometimes and I held off buying her books, just been adding them to my wishlist. hoping to catch a sale on them or something.

  9. I hate cliffhangers but I do love my assertive nerds. If they not wrapped up the romance in this book though I can't. Nice review.

  10. They are, I should have been more clear in my review. The cliffhanger revolves around the overall story plot, not the romance. Glitch was a very assertive nerd, I like him a lot :)

  11. I'm loving the sound of this one! I don't mind so much a cliffhanger, the way I see it, it's not a cliffhanger if I don't care what happens next..LOL Adding this to my list :)
    Thanks Sharonda!

  12. It's so different than my usual romances, I had to try it ;) you are Red are rocking my world right now, lols. Thanks Loupe!

  13. Thanks Red! The whole hacker theme was pretty dang on awesome.

  14. It was a good story., I really like it. Can't wait for the next books.

  15. Sounds interesting. I love that cover. The cliffhanger would have bugged me if I hadn't been warned. Thanks!
