Blurb it Up
Being someone first love is unforgettable. Being their last is immeasurable.

Claire Peters should be on top of the world. She owns the radio waves and has a budding movie career. But her heart longs to be rooted. Ten years ago, she fled Martha's Vineyard to pursue her dream and to make something of herself. But there’s still a void. After a decade of running, she returns to the island hoping to find her happiness with the man she’s loved all her life.

When a tragic event shatters Dr. Forrest Desvareaux’ well-balance world, the Vineyard’s hometown good guy discovers everything in his life is based on lies. Angry and betrayed, he turns to Claire - the one woman who has indelibly marked him.

Is it possible to run back to the person who broke you? Forever linked, Forrest and Claire are an unending continuum. But she’s a wildflower and Forrest’s roots run deep on the Vineyard. Can they accept home is not a place but a feeling?

Tattooed Hearts is book 3 of the Martha’s Way series

She knocked on the door and waited. Nothing. She knocked again, a little firmer this time. Still nothing.

Claire reached in her purse and grabbed her phone. Damn, no freaking signal. Another perk of living on the island. Phone signals were capricious. She turned on her heels to the back of the house where she knew he kept the emergency key, then headed back to the front. The night wind penetrated the wool coat with absurd ease, making her shiver. She drew her shawl around herself more tightly to keep out the cold as she fumbled with the key.

The door slowly creaked open; she stepped inside and was greeted by a muted house, which was not typical of Forrest. She headed down the hall, the click of her heels amplified with each step on the wooden floor. She entered the family room. In here, ESPN always blared in the background. Tonight, there was nothing but an eerie, hollow silence. A bad feeling slithered up the back of her neck.

She dug in her purse for her phone again. One finger dragged along the screen, it lit up. Still no signal. A knot of fear twisted in her gut.

The sound of Forrest’s voice, infused with a question mark, caused her heart to jump and fill with joy, relief. She whipped around and faced the main reason she came back to Martha’s Vineyard.

#BookReview ~ Loved by You by Victoria H. Smith

Source: Provided by Author
Format: Mobi
Published: April 27, 2015
Series: Found by You #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Heat: Medium Sexual Content
Available: BN | Amazon | ARe | +Goodreads

My Review

Loved by You is the second book in Victoria H Smith’s Found by You series, it is the continuation of Roxie and Griffin’s story.

What’s Going on Here? The young couple has graduated college and now reside in Miami as Griffin starts his first year as a rookie for his new basketball team, this new life is a adjustment for both of them. Griffin is being played by his agent and being so caught up in other things, he doesn't take notice of it until he almost loses Roxie. Roxie herself is battling almost everything around her in this new city. She has to weed out the phony from the real and it is hard, especially given the fact that she is a plus size woman living in a town where beauty takes precedence over everything else.

I really did love how Ms. Smith wrote these characters. I loved the fact that Griffin was this loving and supporting guy, that no matter what Roxie went through...he was willing to leave it all behind for her. And as I read this story, I changed my mind about Roxie. As a person who has delt with depression, I could most surely understand her insecurities about “everything”. All things are amplified when you deal with depression and I liked that Ms. Smith approached this topic with care. She did a excellent job of getting you to support Roxie...to root for her to make it. I was right there with Griffin while he was there for her. I feel like if you are going to go with a contemporary story, things must be relatable but that is me. Victoria H. Smith did that with Loved by You.

There is also a great supporting cast here as well, but the stars of this tale is Roxie and Griffin. I don’t think it is necessary for you to read Found by You which is the first book...I think the author gives you enough details about our characters but I for sure will go back in read it (I actually bought it a while back) but I do believe reading the first book with give you more insight into both Griffin and Roxie’s past.

I adore Ms. Smith’s writing because her new adults read like “adults”. Yes, there is angst but not enough to make you want to chuck your reading device into outer space, lols. So yes, I recommend Loved by You. It’s a lovely story of growth, acceptance and realizing that despite the bad...good, loving things and people are always on the horizon.

#BookReview ~ Gas or Ass by Eden Connor

Source: Purchased
Format: Mobi (Kindle)
Published: April 17, 2015
Series: Maybe? (there is a 2nd book coming out in June)
Genre: Hmmmm, Well...uhm...This is not a Romance

My Review

I wasn't really sure how I would feel while reading this story or exactly how I would feel after. But let's take on one thing at a time here, lols.

Gas or Ass is a stepbrother story and before anyone says anything. Yes! I know I said I would never see myself reading this type of story and in all honesty I don’t think I will be all up for reading these type of stories going forward but I must say I did enjoy the way Eden Connor wrote this tale. This book was sitting on my wishlist for a “minute” and then the author posted that is would be on sale for #99cents. I quickly grabbed it up, not reading the blurb...I didn’t know there would be step-siblings hanky panky going on until I got a real good look at the title. But I went in anyway because once I read Ms. Connor’s introduction, I was like hell...let’s give this baby a go.

The gist? Let’s start with the title shall we? Gas or Ass is a term some folks use in the South to pay for a ride. You either gonna give me some money OR you gonna give me the booty....whatever suites your fancy, this works for guys and girls here. This is Shelby’s uh….dilemma? when she is suddenly notified by her flighty mother that she is now married and they are about to move into their new home with her new stepfather and his grown ass sons. She isn’t happy about the situation but what can she do? this is nothing new with her mother (well the meeting of a man and getting all stupid in love with him) but to actually get married and uproot her life? and the middle of her senior year? That just ain’t right. But once Shelby meets Caine and Colt, things get a little heated to say the least.

I’m not going to divulge too much information but I will say there is definitely more to this story than these three just getting it on with each other. Eden Connor throws quite the twist in and I have to say I was shocked as hell and very mad on Shelby’s behalf. That’s not to say that this story isn’t erotic as all hell and I will admit I had issues with some of the wordings during the sexual acts (my mind just wouldn’t accept what it was reading...it was “no! no! no!", lols) but overall the story underneath it all is very complex and I know I was able to get over my “ick” factor and continue with it.

Shelby is being manipulated not only by her mother but her new “brothers” too. I felt for the girl, it seems her only saving grace was her stepfather. I couldn’t wait for her to get out of that house and man was I happy when she did.

Eden Connor tells a story here that you probably won’t think would be in the title of a book called Gas or Ass OR a step-sibling erotic tale. But she did and I’m very interested to see what will happen next. Clever move Eden...very clever. I went into this with the frame of mind that I knew exactly what this story was going to be about. Welp, Ms Connor was like, let me show you something a lil different Sharonda.

And let me just warn you right now, this does not end with a HEA but more like a “I’m Wanna Kill You” ending, lols. Would I recommend Gas or Ass? Yes, I would. I like when author’s throw a curve-ball...make you go “damn! I wasn’t expecting that”. If these are your type of stories then add it to your shelf and even if it’s not, try it anyway. I did and I didn’t die :D

I know...I know. She been acting waaaayyy outside her age of late and even I'm like "ghurl, go sit down some where" but some folk you just can't talk common sense too. Their heads are sitting on a distant planet and they "can't get no air". I have no sympathy for the Madonna of "today". I think she's trying to capture some old youthful part of her that was left back in the 80's and in all honesty....it's not working. Stop going around "kissing" people. You from back in the day, you never heard that term "don't go around putting your lips on everything and everybody?"
Soooooo......let's celebrate the artist from back in the day that pushed the envelope, that gave us tunes we could dance too? Here is one of my favorites from her...

What is up! I hope y'all had an amazing week and hopefully had a good start to this week :) So at work this past weekend (yes, I work weekends. All the tears) Anywho, at work, a song played and I was like.. hold up! Let me take out my phone and SHAZAM this! And I instantly fell in love. So the name of this song is called Overload by Life of Dillion. This is a new to me artist and if it's a new to you artist as well, YAY! Enjoy :)

okay, this is something of a throwback. I remember hearing this song sitting in my Uncle's car and the thing is, my Uncle didn't listen to rock music. He had this big 80's something car that was tricked out and it had huge speakers in it...you could hear dude miles away. Drove my grandmother crazy. So I'm sitting there like "why?" and of course me being the annoying niece I was at that time, I asked him. And being the annoying Uncle he was at the time, he goes "catch the video". Now, ya'll know there was no Youtube back then. So, I had to wait and watch the video on MTV and lo and behold, all the members of the group were black. I was glued to the TV. Now, for a kid my age at that time, there weren't many all black rock bands, at least my eyes didn't see them...not until my Uncle led me to Living Color. This was the first video I saw by them and I was hooked ever since then.

Hey, hey! First and foremost, for those of you who are mothers and those of you who are like a mother to someone special out there, I want to wish you all a happy belated mother's day! I hope you all enjoyed your day, without you, there wouldn't be amazing people blessing this world :) Keep doing what you're doing!

Now! On to my pick for this week! Hmm.. Last week was pretty hectic, been super busy with work and the lot so I'm super exhausted. My soul, body and mind are all on board to relaxation, next stop, don't bother me. lol. So, I guess we'll pick a relaxing song for this week, and since my co-blogger went with Sade, I'll keep with the artist and pick another song. If you've followed me before BnB, then you've probably already seen this pick, but I love it! hah! Anyway my pick is Sade - By Your Side

And because it can get better! Here's a fingerstyle guitar cover for you guys :) Oh my gosh, as if her voice wasn't soothing enough. This just... extra cherries on top. enjoy :)

I'm going to go with a song I picked for my upcoming "Review Inspired Song"  and I'm adding the video here because you won't see it in the review but the link will be there. The author was very smart, she chose a song for each chapter she wrote in her books and because I am a HUGE fan of Sade...this one stuck out like a sore thumb, lols. So until the review 2morrow, catch my Jam for the week!

UnKnown Futures by Jessica E. Subject (Spotlight-Review)

Unknown Futures
a 1Night Stand audio
Lesbian Science
Fiction Romance
Publisher: Decadent Publishing

Blurb it Up

Attacked as a young adult, Jewel is left scarred and alone. She applies to the 1 Night Stand service, believing no one can see past her appearance to love her. But she doesn't expect to be sent to a space station where her date could be any number of unusual alien species.

Flavia left everything behind to be one of five humans working for the Space Service space station. Extremely homesick, she is excited to learn she will be a guide to a woman from Earth visiting the station for a couple days. She is immediately drawn to the petite woman, seeing past her scars to her true inner beauty, stirring unforeseen desires.

Unfortunately, Jewel is there for a date which Flavia hasn't been told about. Can she contain her lust and simply show her a good time? Or will she let her desire lead them into an unknown future?

My Review
The blurb pretty much gives you a good description of what you are going into when starting Unknown Futures. This Sci-Fi lesbian romance was short, erotic and to the point. But listening to the audio, I was a bit thrown off by the narrators voice. Her alien voices sounded more of someone from another country than out of space (although I'm not quite sure what a alien voice is suppose to sound like...). All and all I enjoyed the story, both Jewel and Flavia were well liked characters and for a short read, the growth of them both was overall done well. The sexual descriptions were tastefully done and you got the connection between these characters. Both lonely and eventually looking for someone who would love them despite their flaws. I just wish the voicing was a little more....

Narrated by P. J. Morgan

#BookReview ~ Let's Stay Together by JJ Murray

Source: Publisher via NetGalley
Format: ARC (Galley)
Published: April 28, 2015
Series: No
Author: J.J. Murray
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Heat: Medium to Strong Sexual Content
Available: BN | Amazon | Kobo

My Review

I can tell when I’m not really moved by a story because my reviews aren't wordy as they are when I have the feels.
Let’s Stay Together didn't exactly move me,  I thought it predictable and a tad boring. Lauren Short is a use-to-be well known actress who has caught her gay (she just found out) boyfriend cheating on her...needs to revamp her career and her love life. She starts letter writing a long time fan of hers Patrick.

Patrick Esposito who is handyman in Brooklyn is a big fan of Lauren’s and has always had a crush on her from afar. He figures he’ll write her to cheer her up over her recent break up with her long time boyfriend. But writing her a letter couldn't lead to anything or could it?

What I liked most
  • The letter writing between Lauren and Patrick and the build up to these two meeting and getting together. What starts off as a friendship and Patrick helping Lauren in a sense “get her groove back” led up to a very sweet and romantic relationship.
  • I thought Lauren and Patrick were developed well. Lauren had a wicked sense of humor and when she wanted, quite the sharp tongue. Although there were times when I wished she had more back bone. Patrick was very romantic and caring. He has his own past that he was keeping away from, it was a nice add to the story...made it a bit more stimulating.

What I didn't like
  • I felt at times the story was stilted and things were just added in to give “more” to the story.
  • I couldn't get into the dialogue of the characters at times and there were some inconsistencies throughout the story.
  • Some things were a bit elaborate and just plain unbelievable.
All and all, this is a well written tale and I still liked it.  It was my first time reading a story with a “starlet” in it and when I saw this on NetGalley, I thought I'd give it a try. And then there is Patrick who is a regular Joe (although after reading his back-story...maybe not so much).
Bottom line, a cute story with a sweet romance added in. For the price they're asking, I say borrow it (legally of course).

Review: Ironic by Harper Miller

(The Kinky Connect Chronicles #1)
Amazon |
Goodreads | BN
Author: Harper Miller
Publisher: Self Published (April 29, 2015)
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance 33 pages

My Copy: ARC eBook

I’ve got a funny story for you. A funny story I need to get off my chest. I can’t share it with any of my friends so, I’m sharing it on a kinky message board full of strangers. Well, it is the Internet …

Although the Internet provides a sense of anonymity, names have been changed to protect the innocent (and not so innocent). Job related details have been distorted to protect my identity, but despite the ambiguous details, this is a true story. A story very worthy of the acronym FML.

*Disclaimer* This is a short erotic comedy. Not a novelette, novella, or novel but a short story.

Ironic is the first installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories all wrapped up in a neat little bow. No cliffhangers in the lot!

Top notch, hard working lawyer Mimi needs a little, or big (talking huge), scratch to sate her itch. So where does she go to curb her appetite and to fill up on her needs? Why, no other than www.kinkysinglesconnect.com we dare you to click the link. Go ahead, we’ll wait for you ;)

Ironic is a sexy, fun and fast paced read. And when HMiller tells you that this isn’t a novella, she’s right. She pretty much hand delivered a bow tied package of short story fun! Mixed in with a ton of kink of course. And we loved just about everything in this little short sexy story.

Now, we don’t want to spill too much Tea about Ironic, but we can say that Mimi and Aden had quite the meet up, both online and in person. This short story has a realistic vibe to it that makes you think you’re sitting on your patio with your long time girlfriend, dishing out all your kink stories over a glass bottles (yes, plural! heller! we don’t play with wine) of wine. She’s telling you about her time spent with a very good looking man that she had a one-night stand with and you’re sitting there like “fhurreals”...you know, mouth just a hanging and it takes you a long ass time to pick your jaw up out of your wine glass and your va-jayjay to calm down and stop throwing a pity party over your girls amazing kink-adventure and your lack thereof. Then you ask her (kinda forcefully) to hook you the hell up with this site where she met Mr. Wonderful and we do mean wonderful in all the right ways and areas, you get what we’re saying.

All and all we were feeling Ironic and we barely had any dislikes of this shorty. Would we recommend this read? Uh, DUH! Would we recommend it while you and your sexual drive are on timeout and all you have is BOB and your magical fingers? … well, we’ll leave that up to you. How many Brazen Babes does this short story get, you ask? It gets FOUR Brazen Babes with a large side order of red wine! What? We did say we weren’t playing around with wine, right? No games whatsoever. You may read this at anytime you like, but us girls here at Brazen Babes would like to suggest maybe at bedtime….

Monthly Topic #2: Dislikes In Our Romance Reads

So, we told you guys that we were going to do monthly discussion on a variety of things. Some may be book related and some may not. This months convo will be on what we don’t like to see or are about tired of seeing in our romance reads.

Dislikes in Our Romance Reads

Sharonda: Let me start off by saying that (and I know folks are probably tired of seeing this) but, I’m about tired of seeing virgins in my romances. Now, I don’t have anything against virgins, I used to be one of course, lmbo! But come on now. And especially when said virgin turns into a porn star only a day or two after her first experience with the man of her dreams. Just no...no...no..no! I’m done with these troupes. I mean seriously, I just don’t understand it. As a mature woman, I personally would like to see more experienced women in my romances. I don’t think it’s fair that we get some damn man who has been around the block more than twice and we can’t at least see more female characters who aren’t afraid to take on their sexuality? #IJS

Ana: lol @ I used to be one of course… uhmm… no comment xD Honestly, that’s why I tend to read more NA/YA romances, at least in the majority of them I don’t have to deal with sex and the romance is just puppy love… I mean… I’m with you all the way, why she gotta go full blown porn star on us after she got her v-card swiped? Fahreals?!

Sharonda: *snort* v-card eh? I hear you, although YA and some NA tends to be too angsty for my tastes at times, but I definitely understand. I myself am really hard my heroines. I love tough, kick-ass, snarky and strong characters. I do but…
Sometimes, it’s like what is up with the hard headed, don’t listen (knowing your dumb self is about to get killed or something), I’m just going to do what I want type chicks of late? What the good gravy is up with this? Like doing something that would intentionally hurt the hero or another person in the story is just too much. Please stop mixing that up with a “strong heroine” because she is not. She is irritating and annoying and you know what I’m about to do? hmmmm? DNF the dang on book. It don’t make no sense that I only want to continue a story because of the hero and romance ain’t suppose to be that hard...at least not in a book I’m reading, lols.

Ana:  I’m with you on that one. I love my heroines badass. To the effing core. With a sprinkle of sassy. Mhm. xD Lately I’ve been reading novels with heroines that start off badass and then they just turn into whiney beaaatches. -__- I just ain’t having it.

Sharonda: Lols! ah yes, the whiner. No, me no like her either. It’s very rare we get a character that is in-between the two. It’s getting damn depressing ya’ll.

Ana:  As far as my romances go, there’s not much I want. I want a damned good story with meaningful sex… well, I mean, all the sex is great, but come on.. I don’t want sex from beginning to end for no effing reason. Just woke up, gotta throw in a sex scene. Oh shit, he’s drinking coffee and making it look so good, might as well jump his bones… in the car on the way to work? Why the fuck not. NO. NOOOOOOOO. I refuse. I want the budding romance, slow to blossom and when it hits, it hits hella hard. Maybe I’m reading the wrong damned books. This is why I tend to read books that are older. Early 2000’s late 90’s. I feel those books are more what I’m looking for in romance books. And not he’s a fucking billionaire and she’s his fucking secretary. Eh. I’m done. Let me leave this damned convo now before I rant harder.

Sharonda: Oh, good point Ana. Let’s get a “good” story in between all this humping around because let me tell you, I’d rather watch porn than read it. Everything is so rushed now, there are a lot of insta romances out there and I think we are losing the fundamental reason why we started reading romances in the first place. I know for me, it was to get lost in the story...to fight with the heroine/hero for the relationship...man, I miss those stories. Oh good gravy, the billionaires *lets out a long breath*, I'll will be first to admit that if I see billionaire in the title of a book...I'm out. And can he not be all broken with a mile long range of issues. And I do mean to the point where I’m questioning how the heck he can even be saved? What? We can’t get a happy rich dude? And what the heck happened to the regular Joe? The bus driver, banker, idk...some man I can actually see a heroine meeting? ah well.

And this leads to the books that are broken apart into 3 to 5 different books focusing on the same couple *sigh*. ME ← *points to self*, I am missing full length books. I’m tired of books 1, 2 & 3. I do still read them but again I want more full stories. One thing I cannot stand is to get swept up in a couple and then boom! now I gotta wait for book 2. Oh gawd, that grinds my nerves. Just give me the full story, please!

Ana: yes guhrl, I’d rather watch porn as well. When I read, I want a story that I can’t get in real life. No matter how realistic the author tries to make it. But I have read a book (and it was BDSM - and no I am not knocking BDSM) but it was literally sex beginning to end with no story. I want my romance! Yes, I’m about done with the insta-love bs that’s being pushed as of late. YES! Regular Joe’s. He doesn’t even need to be perfect. He doesn’t need a six pack, although I know that’s what appeals most people, but I just want a down to earth romance novel and I’ll be a content lil reader.

Sharonda: Nods head...me too. There are only a few authors I stick too that write in the BDSM/Erotica genre and that’s because they give me a good story and good sexual scenes..both are tied together. I just want to be a content reader...that’s all. I don’t mind a little angst in my romance because what's is a story without some drama and heck I don’t even mind contemporaries, came across a few good ones of late...really that is pretty much what I've been reading of late But I just want my romance back...that’s all.

So, tell us what you are about tired of seeing in your romance reads. Comment below.
