Love In A Small Town was a cute story and listening to it was good for my commutes during work.
Rafe and Oliva Minelli basically needed to figure out what they BOTH want. And that folks is if they to be together or apart.
Now while I like the story enough...me being the older chick that I am realized that this couple was indeed young and suffered from the dreaded “communication is NOT key” syndrome. If only Rafe and Olivia did indeed talk to one another about their relationship. Okay, one...they barely IMO knew each other before going into this thing called marriage. But you know love at first sight and all that. Instant attraction is a “hella drug” and Rafe...Olivia, they were high as all hell.
Rafe being a cop and part time guardsmen took a lot of his time. Olivia who went into this marriage know exactly what her new husband did for a living started IMO to resent his time at his jobs. This folks caused tension between our young couple. Just imagine taking in the stress of being a newlywed couple with all its shit and add to that ten fold? Crazy? Yeah…
The tension and the not voicing their needs/expectations of each other led to divorce. But living in a really and I mean really small town, Rafe and Olivia couldn’t really just move on. They saw each other everyday after the divorce. And seriously how can you move on when you’re both still in love? Nah, can’t happen. So when Olivia lands new job that may potentially have her leaving town, Rafe can’t take it. He realizes he wants his wife back and Olivia realizes she wants her husband back. Can they get pass the old hurts to make it work a second time? Hmmmm….
So, like I said...I thought this was cute store and I liked it. Rafe and Olivia made for a cute couple. Rafe really did want to be a better husband and Olivia wanted to be a more understanding wife. They do get pass the major bump in the road and make it work. Ms. York gives us a nicely wrapped story. She let this couple re-grow in their relationship by losing it. The story was well done and the audio format was awesome to listen too. I thought the narrator did a great job of bringing Love In A Small Town together. She captured the essence of these characters, she gave them life and I appreciated that.
