This song is catching fire and I'm hooked now too. If you don't know Cardi B, she is a NY chick that gained fame on Instagram then proceeded to get herself on a show Love & Hip Hop (The New York Franchise). I like her for the most part although sometimes, I think she needs to stop and think before she talks but I guess that's her appeal for most. Anyhoo's her "realness" seems to be infectious and has taken her to a place I'm sure she never thought she would get. I can root for the underdog so enjoy...

Hi Guys,
Sorry there haven't been many posts lately but this past week and weekend has been nerve wrecking and my anxiety is up at a all time high. Trying to figure out how to deal with the horrible events that have happened is just taxing and soul draining.
I work in a corporate environment and I KNOW plenty of folk in that part of my life AND my personal life that voted for that monster and still support him, EVEN after nazi's...literal Nazi's have basically been given a pass to abuse everyone else's civil rights.
As a black woman, it is mentally exhausting to continue to see this type of shit keep happening. It is mentally exhausting to see people defend and coddle racist. Especially from people who claim to be a friend, associate or allie.
But people never fail to show you who they truly are...never.
I am legit scared for my sons, my mom, my sisters, nieces and nephews. I'm scared for my entire family and we are a mix bag of pretzels.
I am legit scared for my sons, my mom, my sisters, nieces and nephews. I'm scared for my entire family and we are a mix bag of pretzels.
Sad part is, this man isn't just enabling nazi's. He is setting up policies that will do real and true harm to not just people of color but the very same people who voted him in. Policies that will tear this country apart. We've come far as a nation but I see plenty are willing to take us back. And our government is basically impotent. To many of our so called leaders (and that's on both sides) sit back and talk only. Call out shit but won't take action...I can't deal.
I have no time or patience in my life to befriend bigots or enablers. I only have room in my life for people who truly want to be in it or a part of it...on and offline. People truly have to make a decision on what side of history they want to be a part of and that is sad!
I know I got off point in reflection to this blog but I had to get make it clear. We can all agree to disagree but I won't and will never convince folk whom have already made up their mind and refuse to see me as a human being. And you can miss me with the I don't see color bs.
There won't be any posts from me next week either, I need to do a bit of self care and I don't want my frustrations to reflect in my posts. I'll start posting again the week after next.
I leave ya'll with this. What is the cost of your soul? Your life? You children's? Their children's? The future looks pretty damn bleak right about now.
Take care of yourself BUT also be aware and pay attention. Protect yourselves and your families. Because I have a feeling, its going to get worse before it gets better.

So I'm trying a new thing, well actually there's a couple of "new things" I'm trying but I'm gonna go slow here, lols.
I'm looking into new ways to find inner peace, calm and all that. I've discovered that Crystals can have many purposes in your life. Like healing is one prime way of folks use them...right now I'm still trying to discover the meaning of crystals (there are a lot of them...) and which ones I think will apply to area's of my life.
So! I started off with like six of them. I have two chains, a bracelet and the others I pretty much carry around on different areas of me, like my pants/dress pockets, wallet...etc. Heck one day, I even put one in my bra, lols. Why we always stuffing something in there? lols.
Chains:
1. Amethysts - Abundance stone, though it is not the best known prosperity stone
2. Citrine - Joyful stone with bright energy which lights up many aspects of lives of those who work with it
Bracelet:
Rose Quartz - Stone of the heart, a Crystal of Unconditional Love. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort.
Tumble Stones:
Rose Quartz
Blue Lace Agate - Blue lace agate is a gentle, calming stone that engenders tranquility and grace.
Amazonite - Stone said to be of truth, honor, communication, integrity, hope, and trust. It is often associated with communication.
I purchased my stones from Namaste Book store in NYC, its near my job. But I discovered another crystal shop not to far away from me here in Jersey which I'm going to be visited this upcoming weekend for a reading...I can't wait. I'll let you guys now how it goes.
And if you're interested in learning about Crystals, this site here is a perfect way to discover their meanings.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.

Title: Hollywood Homicide | Source: NetGalley | Format: eBook | Published: August 8, 2017 | Series: Detective by Day 1 | Author: Kellye Grant | Genre: Mystery-Suspense | Available: BN--Amazon--Goodreads
A murder mystery set in Hollywood, an unlikely heroine....Hollywood Homicide has a great mixture of story themes to keep a reader invested in it's pages.
Dayna Anderson a now semi-famous actress is in desperate need of financial assistance. She can't find a job (and I mean any job) anywhere in Hollywood but when a reward is offered for a murder that she and her friends may have witnessed, Dayna sees a serious payday and not just for her but for her parents as well.
But can a use-to-be commercial star be a good detective? Welp, Dayna is sure going to try. Along with her friends, she starts to uncover quite a little scheme going on in Hollywood that hits a bit closer to home.
Hollywood Homicide was thoroughly entertaining, I enjoyed following Dayna around the city as she attempted to figure out a murder. Great story and I really look forward to seeing where the author goes with this series.
**Thanks Netgalley/Publisher for the Opportunity to Review.

Girls Trip
Comedy
2 Hrs
Rated: R
I just wanted to talk about the movie girls trip. if you not seen it, I highly suggest you grab yourself and a couple of your girlfriends and go see the movie. It's a wonderfully awesome movie, especially for black women. I think that in "Hollywood" or in the movie industry itself, we don't get a whole lot of movies where black women are portrayed positively. And also, this movie just isn't for black women only, its really for women in general.
So this synopsis of this movie is that you have the four friends who met in college and became fast friends and then throughout the years, they have always had each others back through the best and worst of times BUT as I always say, life gets in the way, folks grow and all dat stuff and these fours girls separate. Sooo after five, yes...FIVE years of not seeing each other, they decide that the "flosse posse" must get back together. They do this at the annual Essence Fest that goes yearly in New Orleans (and if you don't know what Essence Fest is or Essence Magazine is, then I don't know who you are right now, lols. But Imma a link it for you folks "who don't know").
But anyhoo's the movie is centered around Essence Fest and these friends getting back together. Now you have your four girls, Ryan (Regina Hall), Sasha (Queen Latifah), Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Dina (Tiffany Haddish). Ryan is the more successful of the friends and seems to have "it all". But all that's seen in the light is not all "it is" if you know what I mean and the girls find this all out while on their vacation. And this isn't to say that all of the girls don't have their own issues going on because they do. There are unsaid things between them, unresolved issues and all that so it was pretty empowering to see these women, mainly black women just getting away, having fun while trying to resolve the sometimes messiness of their lives and friendship.
The movie is so well done and gives you a great dynamic of the friendships that women are able to maintain even when are going through our issues. The four actresses above also did a really awesome job of bringing something a little extra their characters.
And Ryan's speech at the end of the movie had everyone in theater I was in in tears, I truly don't think there was a dry eye in the house. Her speech touched upon so many things that we as women go through all.the.damn.time. Like how we are expected to be so "strong" and "supportive" even when we don't truly want to be part of a situation anymore.
Well worth the movie $$ spent, go see it!
Best part of the movie for me truly was the bar fight:

We have a #reveal for ya'll! Please welcome Tasha L. Harrison to BBR!
She is sharing the cover of her upcoming release with us....enjoy!
“Where I come from, cops aren’t super heroes”
Photojournalist
and wedding photographer, Ava Marie Greene, doesn’t ever want to fall in love
and not in the I-just-haven’t-met-right-man kinda way either. Ava is a hopeless
romantic, but too much hurt and disappointment has her hiding behind the
camera. Through her lens, she sees the truth of things, the difference between
real and fantasy, and she thinks she has a good handle on it until she has a
run-in with her friendly neighborhood policeman, Levi Raymond.
“Not all cops…”
A tad arrogant,
and a bit of a cornball, Ava knows that this Levi could make her second-guess
every thought she ever had about cops. She tries to make it clear to
Officer Friendly that she doesn't need saving, but he when Ava finds herself on
the wrong side of the law, will he be the hero she needs or toe the "thin
blue line?"
