Book Recap: Ante Up by Christina C. Jones

Thursday, June 28, 2018

I rated this one 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 via Goodreads.

Grown ass woman, Mother, reader, drinker of the red wines, not so serious makeup enthusiast and finally...a habitual procrastinator. I read just about everything but I really do love my romances. HEA’s are optional because hell sometimes, Prince Charming really is just a frog. Don’t asked if I finished *that book* yet...because I didn’t.

Silence Is Complicity

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Do not remain silent. Silence leads to complacency. Do what you can, no matter what it is, just do something.

Its hard to smile with so much evil going on. You open up a page on sm and it feels like we are in an alternate reality. But this is what happens when dictatorship hides behind the promise of a better Country if the "other" is gotten "rid of". Im not shocked or surprised. Being a black woman in this Country has its"'moments"....thats all Im gonna say about that. But I do I pray this terrible policy of separating children from their parents end. Keep these families in your thoughts and prayers AND call your state representative, ask them where they stand on this inhumane policy. Put fire to their feet and vote them out if they support this mess.

The Natural Way: Essential Oils

Friday, June 8, 2018

So I've been attempting to go natural with a few thangs in my life. After taking up Yoga, I found out about essentials oils and its many benefits. I mean, ya'll! You can do so much with these oils. Like make house cleaners, perfumes and so many other DIY products. I've book-marked so many websites and have so many lists of things to do this summer, it's kinda crazy...lols.

But the first thang, I wanted to show off is perfume/body mist (more of a body mist really...) that I made.

I used oils from my Rahda Beauty set I bought through Amazon, which they no long sale 😒 and I'm very upset, cause you know? free shipping but I digress. I'm shopping through Rahda's website now.

Anyhoo's, the two fragrances I mixed together were Eucalyptus and Ylang Ylang (10 drops of each) and a swig or two of witch Hazel.

The results! Ta-da! (Ya'll, I need a better camera and smaller spray bottles 😆)

I fell in love with this scent and I'm going to purchase the bigger bottles of oils because I'm hooked. And really, you can use the mist for just about anything. Air freshener, bed spray...etc, etc. I'm thinking of using another mix of fragrances, I just have to figure out which ones I want to try for my next batch....

I was thinking Lemongrass and Clary Sage. Hmmmm......

Book Recap| A Princess In Theory by Alyssa Cole

˜”*°•.˜”*°• Book Recap •°*”˜.•°*”˜

Take a cup of Coming To America and a cup of Black Panther, you have A Princess In Theory.

Neledi Smith is a grad student with too much to do, she doesn't have time for scammer emails (which she's been receiving constantly) from somewhere in Africa. So she simply ignores the emails and keeps on with her very busy life.

Prince Thabsio also has too much going on. He's a Prince for goodness sake. He's being pressured by his parents to find a wife and is being pressured by his country to take a deal that he knows will be harmful to Thesolo. What he doesn't have time for is to be looking for a woman who was promised to be his since they were children but his ever present assistant Lacose' insists.

The Plan...the plan was to simply find Neledi and tell her the truth. The truth about her parents, the connection she has to Thesolo's throne and the country she's never known. But one look at one another and both Neledi and Thabsio are instantly attracted to each other and that carefully laid out plan falls apart as Thabsio finds himself falling for Neledi the more he spends times with her.

Neledi has never let anyone get too close to her. Growing up in the foster care system and never have found her "forever home", she learned that no one ever stays...they always leave. Besides her best friend Porsha (whom she keeps a bit at arms length), no one...especially a man has ever gotten as close as Thabsio and he has her wondering if now is a good time in letting the shield that surrounds her heart down.

I had fun reading this one because it has both a CTA and BP tease. Neledi and Thabsio were enjoyable characters and their chemistry made for easy reading. Especially Thabsio. I'm so very glad that Ms. Cole made his character as a man who still believed in finding his fairy-tale Princess, it was so cute!

Although at times, parts of the story were a bit long and dragged out, A Princess In Theory is a solid read with characters that are easy to fall in love with even SOME of the secondary ones, lols (hint: Lacose' needs her own book). If you enjoy contemporary fairy-tales, then this is definitely one to pick up.

The Narrator: Being that this was an audio-book, I have to give big props to Karen Chilton. She did an outstanding job of voicing all the characters. She seamlessly switched between the characters of Thesolo's African accent back to the gritty twang of America's New York City characters. I enjoyed her voice immensely and I hope to come across her voicing more audio-books in the future.
