A Couple of Not So Goodreads...At Least For Me

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Hey Babes!

Question? you ever just sit back after reading a book, quietly look around your surroundings and then wonder "wtf did I just read?"
excuse me wow GIF by Mashable

It's October and the 2018 is almost bye bye. I've had the fortune luck of coming across some good to "bish you is going on my auto-buy list" type of reads.  And then there are those reads that spawn this kind of post. You know....that post where I tell ya'll about a couple of books that I just..
Chile....

Book 1 (Bish Whet?)
I thought I was picking up a mystery with a bit of maybe some cheating drama. Well that's not what I got.
My Thoughts
Thank the Gawds this book was .99 cents because I would be so mad at myself if I paid more. A store full of bad bπŸ™ŠπŸ™Šches and fπŸ™ŠπŸ™Šk boys, I. can. NOT!
Chile.....I won't tell the story and everything ain't for everybody. If you like hood drama that makes no sense, characters that have no depth...then well....Friends With Benefits fits the bill.

Book 2 (I...uhm...)
Not sure what I expected but who can say that when going into any book? To say I was disappointed, well I was. I've seen and heard such good things about this authors writing.
My Thoughts
I'm going to keep saying this. I understand we dip into books to escape reality but if you are going to write a contemporary romance, I'm going to need for your stories to make some type of sense.
Fifteen Years Delayed read like someone had bits and pieces of a story sitting around, then decided
to throw said pieces together in some kind of random sloppy soup.
The story itself was completely un-damn-believable. The characters? Chile...bye. How do you manage to make professionals so un-professional?
The romance itself, just no. I would have thought that Crea and James were still those horny teenagers they were before he did his 15 year bid. And I detest stereotypical generalizations written towards characters of color. There is no need for it...full stop. Every story isn't for everyone and Fifteen Years Delayed certainly wasn't for me.

Have you come across any reads so far that may have had you a bit peeved? possibly confused af?
