So I had a couple of books that I requested through NetGalley that I was late getting posted by their perspective release dates.
Lets see how those reads went...

Eh....this is a slow burn read. I liked Mahalia as she is an
easy character to like, add in her cousin Wavonne and you'll be chuckling throughout
Murder with Collard Greens and Hot Sauce.
However, the mystery part was IMO so drawn out that it just
drained the story for me.
Great recipes, beauty shop talk and the sometimes wick tongues of black women wasn't enough to save Murder with CG & HS. Overall, this was an okay read for me. If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries, this one may be right up your alley.

Ya'll, I don't even
really know how to rate this book. Why you ask? well, let me tell you. I didn't
like any of these people, lols. They were terribly awful people who did bad
things to other people and then wondered why life went so bad for them.
Milton and Yvonne needed their asses kicked, that's all I
can really say about them. And the people that allowed themselves to be used by
them, just damn dummies.
I will say this, Mary Monroe can sure pull emotions out of
you when you are reading her books because I'm telling you, you're going to
walk away either loving or hating her characters. There is no in-between. The
way she weaves these stories, listen...I don't even know. The woman is a good
ass writer and story-teller. So, yeah...I don't think I'm going to rate this
one because it would be a disservice to Ms. Monroe. But chile, Over the Fence
as a whole? All I can say is, if you're going to read it; just be prepared to
walk away conflicted.
