Hooonneeeyyy! This book! This book, I enjoyed it. It's been a while since I read a book that I talked through...like all the way through I talked, lols. Know Your Place had drama, drama and it's gritty. I was here for it all.

Know Your Place gives us the POVs of three friends Ricky, Jamal and Derrick whom all grew up together rough but have managed to be successful adults in their own right. But as we know life as an adult can be filled with good karma and...bad karma so when you add a drug king-pin, a crooked ass mayor, and three-way love affair? Whew Chile! I have to say though that some of the actions of our main players IMO where makings of their own because as I was reading, I kept saying now how he didn't see this mess coming? Because when you put yourself in certain situations, the outcome just isn't going to be good.

Listen, with just the right amount of friction given to each of our characters arc, Ms. Ellis gives you a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and invested in the outcome of what happens to the people in this story. In the end, our main players learn that sometimes, successes in life come with a price. Ricky, Jamal and Derrick have to learn what they are willing to sacrifice for said price.

Excellent job by this author and I'm looking forward to diving into more of Shelly Ellis's works.
