A tumultuous love story between a goddess and a fallen angel, The Angel’s Fire was a delightful read. Lola (not really her name) and Tarik (I think this was his real name…) meet throughout different times in history but that first time Tarik is instantly curious, more curious than he has ever been and he has met up with plenty of humans and non-humans. He wants to know more about Lola (not really her name) but Lola doesn’t want to be bothered as she thinks Tarik is annoying and a trouble maker….she’s not wrong. But a whole lot of  hard-headedness and determination goes a long way for Tarik as he is able to finally get Lola where he wants her...underneath him. But it doesn’t last long as a misunderstanding has them butting heads and parting ways again.

This is a big story with many things going on within it. Lola has her own troubles, some she unnecessarily creates on her own and some are always landing on her doorstep. I mean that may happen when you create a race of cougars and jaguars….

And Tarik is just there to throw fuel on fires whenever he can. I mean that is the reason he was thrown out of heaven…

The romance between these two was stubborn af, much like our MCs. We get much back and forth and  I do feel like their love gets a little lost in all that was going on in The Ange’s Fire but I felt like that was going to happen because this story is part historical/part contemporary so we need a lot to make it work. But at the end of it all; with the action, humor and works.

Holley Trent always keeps me entertained with her writing and The Angel’s Fire is no different. I’ll have to go back during some point in the year and read the rest of the books in the series. Side note: even though this is book eight, imo it can be read as a stand-alone.

Side note, Side Note: This cover!
